3. I don't watch Fox at all...
...or any of the other infotainment channels. I prefer to choose propaganda that appeals to me...or maybe a nice comedy.

5. "Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer."
Words to live by.

It really helps to listen to the other side once in a while to educate yourself on the tactics that will be used against you. That's the only reason I can think of for a free-thinking progressive to watch Fox News.

11. Exactly.
I find it useful to keep up on the latest RW talking points, because I know they'll be regurgitating them at work.

8. Yes I do
It is reprehensible bullshit in most respects....quite ideologically driven by Limbaugh....but I put in perhaps a few hours a week.

But I also listen to Limbaugh....not as much as I used to....due to the severity of the hatemongering....which has to affect one in some negative way....but I think it's necessary to get a gage of exactly how our country is getting its brains sucked out.

10. I flip
when my attention is caught, I stay for a while.

Same thing on the radio.

Fox is actually pretty good at grabbing attention--weren't they the first to do the constant scroll at the bottom? I admit that I love the scroll--I like to read it quickly and feel somewhat caught up.

18. I used to listen regularly to Bob Grant for the same reason
when he was on WABC in the late 1980s. It was like listening to a train wreck.

19. Oh come on!
Bob was at least entertaining!
I was an avid listener through the 70s and 80s.....
Bob had a sense of how the country was going down the tubes....
But then he started to lose it with his "slick willy" obsession....

But on a whole you had to say he had some basic talent.

Limbaugh is talentless.
This is one of the things you should be careful to note about him...he really doesn't say anything clever....or anything even approaching something truly funny....although he'll lace his diatribe with continuous fake chuckles.

He is a complete talentless bag of chit.
You even find that when he appears on TV he can't function properly with other more experienced media people because he's so inferior in most respects. He showed this lack of self-control or ability to function in public when he did the brief football analysis too...

Actually I remember only one time he ever brought me to laughter....it was something to do with fainting goats...and he acted so stupid about the fact that they actually fall over and faint....I had to laugh.

21. You are right about that!
Limbaugh is a waste of space. Grant at least had some brains, however twisted and demoniac they were. Nice voice, too, which certainly can't be said for Limbaugh. And Grant's nasty streak was compelling. He was even mean to people who loved him!

9. Strictly in the name of opposition research
Actually, last night was the first time I'd watched it in months. I wanted to see where they were spinning the "election terra attack" thing, and predictably, they were blaming it on "hysterical Democrats".

But what was truly scary was their story about how an "anarchist group" (READ: federal agent provacateurs, just as it was at WTO in Seattle) is planning on some stunt to fake out bomb sniffing dogs and get Madison Square Garden evacutated during the Bush cornonation - 9/11 exploitfest in September.

Or in other words, protestor = terrorist :scared:

12. I try from time to time
out of curiosity, but I seriously cannot take more than a few minutes. I can better stomach the RW talk show hosts than Fox News.

14. "Never" but got stuck once watching it in a psychiatrist's waiting room
While my kid had his appointment, I--and several waiting depressive teens and their parents--enjoyed a full hour's hate and bile.

15. Watch it while getting ready for work
The morning program is a little faster paced than the rest of the other cable news programs during the 6 am to 7 am time slot and there's usually some supreme case of idiocy on display to keep me amused.

That said, there is some eye candy that makes it worth keeping an eye on the screen even if mentally I'm tuned out.

I have noticed that the female hosts do seem to display some thinking from time to time vs. any of the full time weekday male hosts.
