Santorum lied to our faces
He just was on the floor of the Senate giving statistics about marriage in the Netherlands. He compared rates of marriage in 1989 with those now. He claimed that 1990 was when the Dutch first started giving rights to gay couples. That is just flat out lying.

Here is the real story.

In 1996-APR, the Dutch House of Representatives passed two resolutions. One, with a vote of 81 to 60, asked the government to submit a bill before 1997-AUG-1 which would recognize gay and lesbian relationships. It stated in part: "There is no objective justification for the ban on marriage of couples of the same sex." The other passed 83 to 58. It called for legislation that would give equal adoption rights for both homosexual couples and single people. COC, a national gay rights group called the news "a moral victory. The editor of De Gay Krant, the country's largest gay newspaper, commented: We do not want a 'gay' wedding like they have in Denmark. We want a proper marriage ceremony. If we are equal human beings, we must be given the same legal civil status as heterosexuals."

Note the date, 1996 some seven years after the year he chose. I thought lying was against the Bible. Evidently not.

The longer the "frothy mixture" site remains on top.

You have a dirty mind!

2. He lied earlier today (on CNN) about the vote.
He blamed dems for trying to rush the vote, instead of having a "thoughtful" debate.

BWAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAA!

4. I live in PA. Pity me.
He is disgusting and dangerous. Arrogant and stupid.

He shares a messianic complex with Bush and Ashcroft.

I am ashamed of him, really. He's an uneducated idiot whose bigotry is insulting.

9. Another PA'er here.
Santorum will definitely be installed in the State Hall of Shame. If we can ever get enough of our residents to vote is bigoted ass out!

10. I heard a rumor
that former UPenn president Judy Rodin is going to challenge him in the '06 primary. I think a ham sandwich would be a good choice as an opponent and I have a few niggling doubts about Judy but wouldn't it just be delicious irony if a woman kicked him out on his sorry butt? }(
