1. Bless him! Sen. Mark Dayton (D-MN) is on right now steadily kicking
Edited on Tue Jul-13-04 05:07 PM by demo@midlife
some fundamentalist butt with the Bible! He said he's quoting it reluctantly, and basically is debunking this marriage amendment for what it is - a pure political ploy while ignoring more important issues. Talking about loving others & said that Jesus never even talked about same-sex relationships.

Oh yeah, and Sens. Clinton and Jeffords are coming up next (for 25 minutes IF Orrin Hatch doesn't take up their time).

I hope the numbers of these good guys in the Senate (and the house) will increase after November 2nd!

Edited to add info.

3. Mark Dayton was superb!
I loved his remarks about how Christ never mentioned homosexuality, but that he did mention false prophets and you would know them because they would preach hate rather than love.

And Orin Hatch is spouting his outrage that people are accusing him of bigotry. A mega-dose of self-deception Orin?

He is claiming that he doesn't want to take the rights away of gays to love whomever they want, they just can't get married. Sounds like "separate but equal" argument. And we all know how well THAT worked out for blacks.:puke:
