I'm an ex-mod here at DU, so I know a little about what happens here. You'd be amazed by how many long time posters were thought of being freepers, just because they had a unique voice on political mattters.

If they're Freepers, they'll show their cards soon enough. Stop fucking worrying about them, ok?

4. I honestly do not care

I come from a mostly liberal but unmoderated website. I don't mind seeing punching bags around the block. It's really fun to see bad logic and bizarre views shot to pieces. However, I do enjoy my time here with the enormous population and variety of personalities here.

As a wiser man than I once said, "paranoia stikes deep".

Let the Freepers come ... let the Eagle soar! :) I can think of few things better for a right-winger to do than to take in some divergent opinions. And it would do some of us good, as well.

Freepers are our fellow citizens. As nasty as it gets sometimes, we should still make the effort toward outreach. One of these days, when their iron dream crumbles into rust and blows away, they're going to need to know that the arguments were over politics and not personalities.

I've been a moderator for the past eight weeks. Today is the last day of this term. I can vouch for what Kephra is saying. The polite Freepers are fine, as long as they don't disrupt or break the rules. The Freepers who come by to rant and bloviate last a few hours at best.

Nobody ever died over a little "midnight Freeping". In fact, it's usually good for a few laughs.

I'll add that it's against DU rules to accuse someone of being a freeper. If you think someone is a disruptor, hit alert and let the mods take care of it.

There are a lot of new posters here and they'll sort themselves out. Undoubtedly, some don't belong here. They'll either get themselves tombstoned, mend their evil ways, or just leave.

Meaning only that a thread duplicates another. An especially important rule in the LBN or Latest Breaking News Forum, where stuff moves pretty fast.

you've posted something already posted. If they wanted the mods to pay any attention, they'd need to hit the alert button and tell them it was a dupe, but people will often say "This is a dupe" in a reply. The mods try to lock duplicate threads, leaving the oldest one, so there's more room for variety.

The mods get rid of the disruptive ones. I agree with Kef, most of you would not believe the long time members who were once suspect. I hate the bashing of new members and the suspicion. Different opinions are not disruptive and instead make us all think.
