What's the difference between Democrats and Republicans?
I expect some extremely biased responses to this seeing as it's DEMOCRATIC Underground.

And bet a lot of you will disagree with my independent take on it.

Here it is:

Democrats will take your money and use it to help society while skimming off the top for themselves.

Republicans don't even bother pretending to help anyone. They just take your money and keep as much as they can.

Democrats rig elections at the grass roots level by adding fraudulent votes.

Republicans rig elections at the top levels by subtracting as many Democratic votes as they can.

Democrats have honorable goals but are too disorganized and splintered to make them all happen.

Republicans have dishonorable goals but are so organized, united and skilled at playing the game they make them happen.

Democrats are the majority of America but don't know it.

Republicans are the minority in America but manage to hide that fact and they seized control of all branches of government and major media networks.

How do Republicans get away with it? Democrats let them.

Republicans stay on the offensive 24/7, and Democrats waste their time being defensive.

Just my two cents. Feel free to share your views. And no, I'm not going to provide links for any of this. :P

Flame away if you want, but I'm voting straight ticket Dem this year as you can see from my sig.

16. Actually, that was very well said.
I am a lifelong Dem, but if there were a candidate from a third party that I truly believed in, I would vote for that person. I think the time has come for a third party, but you can bet that after they were in office just a little while, they would do the same thing as Repugs and Dems. Just the nature of the beast.

3. When Democrats are bad, they get caught
and catch hell for it.

Republicans are bad in a very bold way and don't care who catches them or tries to give them hell for it.

8. indies are indescribable
but I love being pandered to by both parties.

Indies tend to support which side is more appealing at the moment or the "lesser of two evils". Third parties are somewhat of a lost cause unless they have enough support for a major party to co-opt their planks and drive down support. There was a time when the socialists got a ton of votes in this country.

11. was telling a kid this today
Democrats are for working people. Pubs are for business.

Then there is this idea: Democrats want to be involved with everyone else in making the decisions that guide this country. Pubs are happy to allow the elite make all the decisions for them.

Go Boosh! Go away.

the average voter needs it all in short form, to remember and mull over:

Dem: equal prosperity for all

Repub: mass suffering, makes it easier to steal. Gobble/starve is the result. {gobble top/starving bottom}

13. Republicans are IMPs
"In My Pocket"...

Republicans only consider what is going into their own pockets and to hell with anyone else (unless it benefits someone else who ALSO can put more in your pocket).

Republicans talk alot about values, but their deeds often show their TRUE values (AND lack thereof).

Democrats care about the planet, humanity, equality, and fairness.

14. Democrats care about future generations ...
and consider the welfare of future generations. Republicans operate on the business model and can't see past next month's bottom line.

Look at the environmental policies. Republicans do all they can to rape the planet. Republicans think "let future generations fix their own problems." Democrats respect good science and are not overly influenced by any religion. Rather, Democrats respect the Creator by trying to take care of his creations.

15. Dems are spineless, confused, in denial, & incapable of fighting.
Republicans are ruthless, know exactly what they want, and how to get it.

Democrats don't even understand the role they actually play in the political system, while Republicans are under no such illusions.

The Democrats' idea of how to "win" an election is to imitate Republicans as much as possible, hoping thereby to appease them. Republicans, by contrast, set the framework for the entire political "debate." They dictate the ground rules. The Democrats' role is entirely reactive to Republican thrusts, always living in dread of what Republicans might say or do, & willingly modifying their own identity to be just like them (but slightly less so).

In the US move to the right in the last 25 years, the Republicans have led - dragging the whole country with them. The Democrats have responded by being dragged. Republicans play offense; Democrats play defense.

Democrats spend most of their time whimpering, cringing, and on their knees selling out to Republicans. They are silent when they should be enraged.

In the Democratic "mind," the only way a Democrat can be elected is to be Republican-Lite himself. Thus, we see Kerry running as a militarist. Similarly, Clinton was a moderate Republican (and the Democratic rank & file is so delusional & confused that many of them still believe Clinton was a great hero).

If faced with a situation where attempting to win a political struggle might cause the destruction of the entire pseudo-democratic republic, the Republicans would unhesitatingly plunge ahead and go all-out to win. The Democrats would hesitate, sweat, and roll over on their backs.

It's also complete and total bullshit. God save us from those with strident, hysterical, histrionic idealistic purity.

25. My grandfather used to say...
My grandfather used to say...

"Republicans want to re-use the same, tired crappy ideas over and over again. Democrats want to invent brand-new crappy ideas to trry out"

He would also answer when presented with the question, "What's the difference between Democrats and Republicans?" with the reply, "55 IQ points and a college degree"

Grandad was an old school Truman democrat who thought Roosevelt was the second coming and that Dixiecrats were the Anti-christ.

Just a bit of 65 year old levity to lighten things up :)
