Are we Democrats OUTRAGED enough?
I know those of us on DU are. . . but are the rest of our fellow Democrats outraged enough to get up off their butts and vote this year??? Last election 50% of the Democrats were MIA in the election. We know the repugs are getting their act together and we know the swing voters will probably break 55% for Kerry and 45% for bush. That means we need to get the Democratic base to vote in more numbers than the Republican base. I have been and will always be a vigilant Democrat, but there are many wishy-washy Democrats in our ranks - will they have the backbone to cast a vote - will they care enough to cast a vote - are they outraged enough to cast a vote?

1. I'm with you on this one
I've always believed that there are vastly greater numbers of democratic (and liberal) minded people in the U.S.

The problem has always been getting them fired up enough to send them to the polls.

I think that's why "get out the vote" programs are usually dem oriented. The repubs have little luck finding new registrants.

Maybe that's why repubs feel the need to scrub the minority vote, they are the first to feel the effects of repub economics and they show up at the booths more when things go sour.

It's a theory that many people will show up to vote AGAINST someone rather than to vote FOR someone.

3. Seems like sane minded people everywhere are fired up
I think turnout will be high and don't think it's gonna be a close election, i think it's going to be a Kerry landslide. I talked to my Nana on Sunday, she and her "Old broads club" as they call themsleves have decided they are all voting for Kerry this year "Dear". These woman are all in their late 80's and have seen em all and they agree that "Maybe Mr. Bush is a nice man, but not for President honey".

11. Sorry Seth - I have to disagree!
Politicians should not have to entertain the public in order to have them vote. The public should be aware enough of the incredible power of an elected official to pay attention to everyone running for office and not have to be bribed into casting a precious vote.

The people who don't vote are an outrage!

14. That's what I'm afraid of
the complacency of people - the war in Iraq is not in the news anymore - the environment is not in the news anymore - the lies of the administration are not in the news anymore - the bungled, mangled, distorted and false intelligence is not in the news anymore - the only thing in the news is the democratic fundraiser.

Grrr . . . .

10. To be outraged
they have to be informed. I don't think that's the case with many people out there.
