I saw F 9/11 again tonight |
|
I just wanted to get F 9/11 back on the discussion boards.
No really, the second viewing - Tuesday night, maybe 40 people there, subdued, some chuckles, and a bit of applause at end. 1st viewing - opening night, full house, lots of reactions, everyone applauded at the end.
Personally, the second viewing was to review what I saw the first time but Moore packed so much in this movie that I wasn't always sure what was up next even the 2nd time around. He did put together a nice package. And the scenes with the Flint Mother of dead soldier still choked me up.
First time I went with three other yellow dog Dems - my son, my sister, and brother-in-law. It was definitely preaching to the choir - we ate it all up and were thrilled to see it on the silver screen. I took my wife this time. She is from the South, a closet Dem, not outspoken, usually disinterested in national or international affairs, not at all active in politics. Well, just after the movie she didn't say a word - and she is the talker in the family. So I kept quiet too - didn't want to sway her opinion one way or the other but then she let loose. She was mad as Hell and disgusted with Bush for being such an imbecile and we (the US) letting him get elected. She was mad at her repuke friends (we live in suburbia) because they are so ignorant to what's going on. She was mad at the media for being such repuke shills. She was mad at America.
At the end of the movie after the credits roll Moore puts up a little promo:
DO SOMETHING! www.michaelmoore.com
I think my wife is going to do something.

1. Holds up well on repeat viewing |
|
I've seen F911 twice now also. I wanted to catch some of the stuff I'd missed, plus support Moore. I was surprised at how much tighter it seemed the second time around. I actually expected to find some holes, or to feel less enthusiastic about it. Instead, I came away with even more admiration for Mike's work.
I have to admit, the Lila Lipscomb scenes seemed overdone to me the first time. I thought the White House scene was too much. The second time, though, it all seemed just right.
I've been a fan of Moore's since TV Nation days, and I'm really pleased to see him doing such great work now. And I'm thrilled that so many people are seeing this movie, especially those who aren't in our choir (yet).

2. Had a similar experience with my wife |
|
She's a calm, quiet southern gal who hates to discuss politics, especially with me. However, in the two weeks since we saw the movie together she's become as pissed off as I am. Now she's often the first one to bring up a Bush outrage in conversation, something she never did before the movie.
There's no doubt in my mind that F-9/11 has enough raw emotional bite to change minds. But more important may be the way it allows many of us to express our anger at Bush for leading us down the wrong path. In other words, it's now OK to be outraged.

3. I've seen it three times ... |
|
... and I still can't stop sobbing throughout. I'm enjoying going through the documentation for the facts presented in the movie, as shown on the Moore Web site.
