8. he has
He does a job of being polite while riping apart guests' views on the Iraqi war (which he obviously does not support), but in the last few months as more information is being revealed that the CIA had faulty intelligence (that's putting it kindly), Jon seems to let his near silent outrage slip out.
And I for one am glad. Jon is a stand up guy, but his outrage seems to be more real comming from a man that does seem to see the sh*t on both sides of the political fence.

40. Yep. Great at Whoring for her Imperial Masters
If Judy is a Democrat she doesn't act it and in fact behaves quite the opposite, not even neutral but she acts like a Bush Supporter.

Just because Judy's husband is a Democrat, that deosn't mean she is.

Even if she WAS Democratic, that wouldn;t excuse her Bushevik Bootlicking, which is constant.

By far and away the funniest show on TV. Great writers and performers. It's shame the only place to find "real" political humor is on cable.

15. Not Really
Jon was tearing them all new assholes long before his wife gave birth. Jon Stewart is not one of those panty-waists who has to hide behind a child to voice his opinions (most people who make demands "for the children" are really just making demands for themselves and using children as a justification).

35. Bingo, Mom!
My feeling exactly. Jon Stewart doesn't want his new kid drafted in 18 years to fight the world for the BFEE. Nor does he want his new kid inheriting the total cluster-fuck that will be the Bu$h regime's legacy.

When Jon Stewart's new kid is 18, the Bu$h name will be an anathema. The people will spit on the ground when that vile name slips their lips. Objective history will not be kind to Bu$h. Oh no, history will not be kind.

27. Here are a few...
Jon showed clips of Shrub's speech to the folks at Oak Ridge where he said "Americans are safer" because of his policies about eight times in ten minutes.

"Americans are safer"

...but Mr President, Tom Ridge came out last week with an ominous terra warning

"Americans are safer"

...but Mr President, even the State Dept after they "un-fucked" their report say that terra is at an all time high

...and so on

The bit with Condi Rice was priceless. They have a clip of her interviewed with Wolf Blitzer, discussing the story of postponing elections, etc. Dr Dumbshit says something like, "I don't know where that story is coming from..."

So Jon breaks it down. There's this guy Soaries, appointed by your boss, who wrote a memo to Ridge, also appointed by your boss, who then enlisted the assistance of Ashcroft appointed by your boss.

But don't worry Dr Rice, this is only a matter of national security, how could you know?

37. Election/Terrorism Issue was even better, IMO
Trying to remember from last night (apologies for any inaccuracies)

Rob Cordry (Senior Terrorism-slash-election correspondent) did a bit about the elections being canceled if there was a terrorist attack.

Plans described:

He showed a US map where some states (in blue) would act as voting buffers for the remaining states ("We'll call them Red states"), sacrificing their votes. The map was pretty much the 2000 electoral map.

To confuse the enemy, we would put legitimate voters on felon lists, use electronic touch screens with no paper trail.

When all was said and done, the terrorists would not know who was elected but neither would we.

Jon also called out Rice when she went on the air to say that she was not aware of any serious consideration of canceling the election. He quickly drew connections between the FEC official (name?) to the Justice department (Ashcroft) and Tom Ridge's announcement. Jon said something to the effect that this issue would be important to national security and why should she be aware of it since she is just the national security adviser.

-Greg

38. terror warnings target big cities
another poster pointed out how the terror warnings are targeted towards the mass populations in the big cities that vote heavily democratic. If voters in some of these cities are deterred by just a point or two it could tip the state to the GOP since the rural areas vote GOP. Cordry's piece was hilarious but he had some clever points like the red zone's vote would count as two votes to further "safeguard" the election.

39. Did you see the one about the harmonium player?
He got some laughs out of the army recalling old band players, to serve in Iraq. Even an harmonium player. He showed a clip of a legislator asking something like, but can't we get away with not using the harmonium player? Another liegislator explained that we needed these band members because there are a lot of deaths and therefore a lot of funerals in Iraq. His clips made the point that instead of recalling more people to play at funerals, perhaps you should rethink your strategy and have fewer dead? The audience was like, "oooooooohhhhh," no laughs. I remember thinking what a brave man he was, a comedian, not going for the laugh, but hitting them right in the gut, with the irony of that exchange.

I am a firm believer in the idea that heroes are not born, but rise from the situation, and Jon Stewart is one of my heroes.
