in Iraq? The war on terror is not a war - we can't have a war on ideas, they have to be on a country. The terms "war on poverty" "war on drugs". etc are not real "wars".

1. Let's not forget
the War on Gays and the War on Roe vs. Wade, and the War on Taxes (on the rich, anyway).

2. Yeah, but
The war on terror is closer to a real war than eitehr the war on Drugs or the War on Poverty. I personally would like us to eliminate al-Qaeda, and on of my frustrations with President Bush's decision to invade Iraq and ignore Afghanistan is that it has nothing to do with what should be our real goal.

Denying the existence of a War on Terror; i know what you mean, but it also makes many think "So what; you just want to ignore the terrorists?"

4. The effort to delete terror may be "closer" to a war -but it is NOT a war

Naturally, all of us want to elimate terror, but I feel that effort is being used as a political tool to enable Bush to call himself a "war time president". He simply is not a war time president unless the Iraqi war that he start is the war he is talking about.
