Does Ditka have a chance to win a Senate seat??
Oh God. This is scary shit! Has anyone ever seen this guy have one of his tirades? He's an idiot.

Anyway, I live no where near Chicago. Does Ditka actually have a chance to beat Obama? I hope not.

7. Not the same...
Ventura ran against two unpopular candiates (Skip Humphrey and Norm Coleman), and snuck in with less than 40% of the vote. And he was so unpopular by the time he left that he decided not to run again.

Arnold is not a good comparison either...Gray Davis was hated. From what I understand Obama has a very good reputation with high favorable ratings...unless Illinoisans completely put their brains in park I don't think the Limp one has a shot.

9. And Ventura was actually mayor of a town in Minnesota
before running for governor. At least he had some political and executive experience.

3. Do you know who make a shitty senator?
Ditka.

I'd love to see the debate, though.

4. Are there more Bear fans than Democrats?
I'd say his chances are good.

13. I could be wrong

But most Bear fans are in and around Chicago. From my own experience, people downstate and people who live near the Wisconsin border tend to be St. Louis or Milwaukee fans, so I doubt they care much about a former Bears coach in those areas.

I think his candidacy, even the prospect of it, is more about star power/image/name recognition than anything else. (i.e., "It's the distraction, stupid.")

Obama has a good support base in Chicago, even among what are typically conservative and Republican areas. Ditka may have some local celebrity status, but Obama has credentials, he's known for being a nice guy, and he's the best person for the job, in my opinion. Generally speaking, Dan Hynes was more popular with downstate dems back in the spring, but I'm sure Obama will have their support as well.

5. Slim Left Town in 1993...Limp Ditka Is A Joke
And is being treated as such by the media here.

Any sane and sober human...which a Repugnican fails from the outset...would get the message...even from his own wife...and go back to playing casino greeter and johnson expansion seller.

But since he's a doofus, hopefully he'll provide lots of entertainment for all of us from now through his trouncing defeat in November.

This could make that 1984 playoff loss to San Francisco (Bears fans painfully remember) look like a victory.

Cheers!

6. I'm Not From Illinois
But I think Obama has a good shot, from what I've heard here.

But if the people want Ditka, he'll give it to them.

And he'll give it to them hard.

My Prediction: Ditka won't win. It probably won't even be close.

If I'm Wrong: Ditka will screw it up for Republicans for some time to come. He'll be an embarrassment to the state of Illinois and he'll probably make Dick "Go Fuck Yourself" Cheney look like a paragon of professional integrity on the Senate floor.

8. Ditka is doing this for the publicity right now
He's looking at getting more commercials, not a Senate seat.

He;ll run it down to the wire and won't run.

Why?

Because he would lose his ass, that's why.

11. Ditka's Past Indiscretions Qualify Him
Ditka's record makes it clear to me that he will fit Cheney's new
Family Values F#^k Everybody Standard perfectly.

Watch out for this guy. He fits the new Republican voters profile for excellence.

16. Not if he doesn't run
http://www.illinoisleader.com/news/newsview.asp?c=17620

He stormed out of the supersecret GOP meeting this morning pissed off that the GOP leaked the story to the press.

It's doubtful whether he'll even run now.
