4. Not Voting: Edwards & Kerry??? I guess they were sure that it wouldn't
get all the necessary votes to be passed.

I'd hope so, anyway.

9. I am disappointed they didn't vote.
If some Republicans could take a stand, why couldn't they?

18. It was just a procedural vote for cloture, not the Amendment,
and there was NO WAY that the R's were going to get the necessary 60. Why should they get yanked off the trail just for that?

16. I'm ok with them not voting
Assuming that they probably knew it didn't have a chance, AND since this vote was just a vote to continue the debate. I don't think they need to give the GOP what they are looking for right now.

10. Thanks... I was wondering how many votes there were...
on CNN they just keep saying that they couldn't get the 60 they needed to continue the debate.

15. Holy smokes!
Campbell voted no? The old boy finally did something right on his way out of office! Sununu voting no? He must've misunderstood the bill.

17. Is anyone not surprised that Norm Coleman voted yes?
He's now an official right wing homophobe, right?

Minnesota DU'ers...in 2008...you know what to do. I can come up there and help if you want. :-)

22. Ben Nighthorse Campbell's NO vote-- not sure what to make of this
does he oppose the marriage amendment or did he simply not want it to come to a vote prior to the election? Anyone know what his stand is?

I too am surprised...

6. Can't the Dems boot Zell from the party?
He doesn't vote with any Dems - how is he allowed to keep the (D) after his name??

12. They should trade Zell for Chafee
Chafee always votes with Democrats on issues like this. He is way more like a Dem than a Republican.
