A very interesting point by a Marine
Edited on Wed Jul-14-04 02:12 PM by Nightjock
In my Sunday paper a reporter was with some soldiers in Iraq and one man said about the US occupation.

"Because we're here, they shoot at us and harm U.S. troops," he said. "Because they do that, we stay here. So we get a bit of a negative cycle."

Also.....
Every Marine in the article acknowledged almost none of the soldiers supports the pResident anymore

clip.......We're meant to be making things better, but we're making it worse," one said. "These people don't want our help." Five men had been injured for nothing, they said, and there would be more to come. They had disparaging words for President George W. Bush and his service in the National Guard, but they said that as soldiers, they would always do what their commander in chief told them to do.

Although the two Marines who spoke privately insisted that theirs was a commonly held view among the men, that was impossible to verify. Speaking such words of dissent constitutes a breach of conduct. When speaking publicly, most Marines backed the mission in Al-Karmah without hesitation.

God bless those poor men and woman. Knowing what I know now about GW's lies, I would seriously consider going to Canada.

I can't wait until an honest, good man is back in the White House.

1. is this newspaper available online?
if so, I'd like a link so I can read the whole article. My husband is a soldier that served in Iraq and he says much the same thing as you quoted this marine saying. Good for him and I hope he makes it home safe.

5. How times have changed
When in the grunts in Nam, '67/'68, Marines I knew didn't really give a flyin' f**K about politics. They just wanted 2 things. 1st was to live through the shit & 2nd was to get discharged........ Now, these youngsters seem to be paying alot more attention to the issue of just who is responsible for their current "world of shit"..... This is not a good thing for pRes. AWOL.
