Ditka's Many Indiscretions vs. Obama's Drug Use - discuss |
|
Personally, I don't care about either of their past behaviors. But it'll come up if this does indeed become the matchup.

We can say that he stopped before he turned 40, for one.
We can also say that despite past indiscretions, he's actually qualified for the job.

even though he looks like he's 25. I have no idea when this drug use ceased. I hope it doesn't hurt him. I just read a long article about him earlier today and no mention was made of that.

Obama was a kid, Bush was an adult
Obama was truthful and open, Bush has been lying through his teeth from day one.
Obama learned from his experience, Bush and Ditka never grow or change.

a) Obama has apparently copped to it, making him not a flaming hypocrite..
b) Obama was not the governor of a state with outrageously draconian mandatory minimum sentences for drug possession.. (Although it would be interesting to see his take on them)
c) For whatever mysterious reason ("corporate!"... excuse me while I clear my throat.."media!") these kinds of bullshit issues seem to stick to Democrats, while folks like Dubya are given a free pass.
That said, hopefully it won't matter.

9. Ditka will be tough to beat |
|
Mike Ditka will be difficult to beat. He is a VERY intelligent man. I have been to three events where he was a motivational speaker and at each I spoke to him after the event. He has well thought out opinions, though he often uses harsh language to show his strgon feelings on a range of topics. This may appeal to someone turned off by Obama's schooled political approach.
Also, Ditka has a long and successful history in the broadcast booth. He can work a camera and thinks fast on his feet. He will not be an easy foe.
Obama has his work cut out for him. I see something in the 52-53% of the vote for Obama, he would have been in the 60s against Ryan. A lot will turn on the Key Note address.

He sotrmed out of a meeting with the guys who get to decide who replaces Ryan on the ballot.
Not a good sign for Ditka's candidacy. If he won't play ball with these guys, he can't run.

Believe me, Ditka is not as revered as some think. He was a horrible football coach and was equally as bad in the broadcast booth. To say that he's bright seriously is misleading. He's a hardboiled egg.

Ditka against Obama.
For those of you who think Ditka was a bad football coach, to each his own. He oerformed very well when he had the players. Irregardless, I think the polls will have him in the running tomorrow or Friday once they come out.

42. Ditka was bad enough as a coach |
|
He got one superbowl--with the players, as you note--and when he left the bears nobody thought it was a bad idea. Now the 1985 bears is old news. It was eighty five, right? He's as corny and outdated as the Superbowl Shuffle.
And if any one of three dozen pubbies hadn't already turned the office down, nobody would be considering him. He's the bottom of the barrell.

31. Ditka's greatest indiscretion.... |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-14-04 04:13 PM by NervousRex
was being born. Haven't we had our fill of his brand of masculinity? The scared little boy trapped in a big ugly body....lashing out at the world, and himself (violent sports, heavy drinking, etc.). This poor man is a severely mentally damaged excuse for a human being. I pity him, but do not want to see this piece of filth elected to the senate.
