I suppose if gun permits are constitutional, then free speech permits are to.

BOSTON, July 13 (UPI) -- Permits have been issued to about 70 groups planning protests during the Democratic National Convention this month in Boston.

Some 67 permits have been approved and another eight were expected to be granted this week, the Boston Globe reported Tuesday. The deadline for applying for protest permits was last Friday. The convention is set for July 26-29.
