Latest Mason-Dixon poll shows "stastical dead heat" in North Carolina.
This poll is more in line with the last 3 months of statewide polling in North Carolina.

------------------------

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Results are in from the first statewide poll since North Carolina's John Edwards joined John Kerry in the race for the White House. From the numbers, the news is mixed. Right now, the WRAL/Mason-Dixon poll shows George Bush and John Kerry in a statistical dead heat in North Carolina.

16. I suspect his numbers will keep falling here. Maybe not a freefall
but I think they will continue to inch down.

5. That CNN/Gallup poll was crap for 2 big reasons.
1. CNN/Gallup didn't know what they were doing--they had NEVER done a state-wide poll in NC before--ever. (Mason-Dixon is a long-time pollster in NC.)

2. CNN/Gallup did a "weekend only" poll which is notoriously inaccurate. Many working poor are working their 2nd jobs on the weekend, etc.

This poll is far more in line with the date Mason-Dixon has been gathering over the last several months.

15. they also assumed turnout would be about 16% lower than it was last
time. I bet the had to assume that those were all Democrats not showing up in order to get a number that looked good for Bush.

13. I assume then that Rush will take a few extra oxycontin
to ease the pain of these new numbers and never mention this Mason-Dixon poll.

LOL!

8. this is what I've been saying all along!!!
and trying to explain what was flawed about the other poll, and then catching flak from people on here saying Cheney NC, we don't need them anyway, they're knuckledraggers, etc ... there was no way I was believing a 15 point Bush lead without more than one poll

9. Exactly!
It's frustrating because we North Carolinians have all been watching the polling in our state for *months* so we know when a poll is wildly different than what the trend has been showing.

But when that wildly different poll is released, everyone thinks it is the most accurate info coming out of the state, so people start threads trashing North Carolina.

Not fun.

11. Was he wow-ing them in Iowa today?
My dad saw him on CNN and said he was doing really well--I think he said Edwards was in Iowa and they were lovin' him.

17. We need to inform CNN
and their political so-called experts from right-wing foundations about this poll. Bill Schneider spent a considerable of amount of time touting the previous poll as evidence that Edwards is liked in NC but Kerry is not. Do you think CNN will cover this poll?

And they said NC is in play.

So there!
