How Many Republicans, Women in particular, will secretly vote DEM |
|
Many Republicans are trapped.... cannot admit error in backing Bush, but desire to see his ass kicked and lose the Election.
So while they have a Republican Facade...they will vote behind the curtains...for Kerry.
In all these kinds of elections, some percentage of Pubs do this and Vice versa with the Dems. But this year...the factor will be larger than normal and Bush will have one more worry to hamper his sleep.
Repub women are mothers too.... and like other Mothers with sons and daughters in the Service, do not wish to hear the dreaded telephone, nor the Officer approaching the front door. Mamaism is gonna be another factor for the Bushittes.

1. Any historical precedent for this? |
|
One would expect a huge disparity between the polls and actually votes.

3. Polls indicate both Parties suffer the cross over factor |
|
In this year, I suspect the factor will be much hugher in the Pub side of the equation.. and lower on the Dem side.

4. I know many that aren't being secretive about it |
|
I sent a friend home with an "Anyone But Bush" button. She lives in the same neighborhood in Naples where Bush raised a record 2.9 million at a $25K per plate lunch, and she informs me that some who paid the $25K will not vote for him.
In a county with no elected Democrats and 75/25 Repubican majority, I consider this to be one of the most conservative communities in the world. I'm pleased to say that many of the "Haves" and the "Have Mores" are having second thoughts about their wonder boy.

5. Vocal support, and secret ballot |
|
I suspect a lot of vocal supporters of Bush, even big donors, will be pulling the levers for the other guy come November- unless they suspect Diebold is forwarding their ballot file to the WH computers- which is probably would be something planned for a darker future.

how my outwardly pro-republican mother in law votes when the shades are drawn and my domineering father in law is not looking over her shoulder. Their son (my brother in law) is serving in the Navy now. Surely that will affect her vote.

7. Okay, bit of a funny story ... |
|
I have a very conservative loudmouth uncle who listens to Rush every day. My aunt, who is very quiet, defers to him so much it makes me ill.
Anyway, my uncle and I have not talked about politics since I made a crack at a family get together about Clinton's bogus impeachment (I said something like, "Dems may lie about sex but repub lie about everything else." He got pissed and called me a femi-nazi. Whatever.)
Anyway, we all got together lately for my mom's birthday and my aunt whispered to me that she is voting for Kerry! She whispered "I'm voting for Kerry and that handsome boy Edwards" (okay, okay - give her some slack, she is in her late 60's).
I whispered back, "He's a handsome fellow, isn't he?" and then she whispered, "Reminds me of Jack Kennedy" and then she made a quick swooning gesture! I told my mom later, "Ma, I think Aunt Chrissy is a closet Democrat!" Mom just smiled and winked at me!
Anyway, since that happened I been so much more optimistic about the election ....

Well, and also remember there's possibly the tendency of voters to want to "balance" things by voting for a Democrat when they know there is a majority of Re-pubes in the House and Senate or vice versa.
