The lastest propaganda...slam Theresa
MODS - please edit if necessary

My dad, the Republican, sends me stuff once or twice a week that's been getting scarier and scarier. I told my husband I think he's gone over the edge now.

But I'm so pissed off at this one. It's the first time I've replied...I usually just scan and delete. Here a sample of it everyone, being passed all over the world wide web. :puke:

"Following is a brief background on Mrs. John Kerry . She hates being called that, by the way: Maria Teresa Thiersten Simoes-Ferreira Heinz Kerry. Married Senator Kerry in 1995. She only took his name eighteen months ago and she is an "interesting" paradox of conflicts.

If you thought John Kerry was scary, he doesn't hold a candle to his wife! Maria Teresa Thiersten Simoes-Ferreira Heinz Kerry was born in Mozambique, the daughter of a Portuguese physician, was educated in Switzerland and South Africa. Fluent in five languages, she was working as a United Nations interpreter in Geneva in the mid-60's when she met a "handsome" young American, H. John Heinz, III, who worked at a bank in Geneva. He told her his family was "in the food business."

They were married in 1966 and returned to Pittsburgh where his family ran the giant H. J. Heinz food company. He was elected to the US House of Representatives in 1971, and in 1976 he was elected to the first of three terms in the United States Senate. A Republican, he wrote a burning diatribe against some of the causes backed by young House member John Kerry.)

Several years later, in 1991, he was killed when his plane collided with a Sun Oil Company helicopter over a Philadelphia suburb. The senator, his pilot and copilot, and both of Sun's helicopter pilots were killed. He was survived by his wife, Teresa, and their three young sons.

Four years later, having inherited Heinz's $500 million fortune, she married Senator John Forbes Kerry, the liberal then-junior senator from Massachusetts. She became a registered Democrat and the process of her radicalization was set in motion.

Heinz Kerry is not shy about telling people that she required Kerry to sign a prenuptial agreement before they were married. John Kerry may not have check writing privileges on the Heinz catsup and pickle fortune, but he is certainly a willing and uncomplaining beneficiary of it.

A lot of hard-earned money, made through many years of hawking catsup, mustard, and pickles has fallen into the hands of two people who despise successful entrepreneurship and who believe in the confiscatory redistribution of wealth.

So how does Mrs. Heinz Kerry spend John Heinz's money?

Just one example: According to the G2 Bulletin, an online intelligence newsletter of WorldNetDaily, in the years between 1995-2001 she gave more than $4 million to an organization called the Tides Foundation. And what does the Tides Foundation do with John Heinz's money?

They support numerous antiwar groups, including Ramsey Clark's International Action Center. Clark has offered to defend Saddam Hussein when he's tried.

They support the Democratic Justice Fund, a joint venture of the Tides Foundation and billionaire hate-monger George Soros. The Democratic Justice Fund seeks to ease restrictions on Muslim immigration from "terrorist" states.

They support the Council for American-Islamic Relations, whose leaders are known to have close ties to the terrorist group, Hamas.

They support the National Lawyers Guild, organized as a communist front during the Cold War era. One of their attorneys, Lynne Stewart, has been arrested for helping a client, Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, communicate with terror cells in Egypt. He is the convicted mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

They support the "Barrio Warriors," a radical Hispanic group whose primary goal is to return all of Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Texas to Mexico.

These are but a few of the radical groups that benefit, through the anonymity provided by the Tides Foundation, from the generosity of our would-be first lady, the wealthy widow of Republican senator John Heinz, and now the wife of the Democratic senator who aspires to be the 44th President of the United States.

Aiding and supporting our enemies is not good for America, regardless of your political views. If voters will open their eyes, educate themselves and see the real Teresa Heinz Kerry, they will not appreciate her position as ultra rich fairy godmother of the radical left. They will not want to imagine her laying her head on a pillow each night inches away from the President of the United States.

Hopefully they love this country enough to decide that the only way these two will ever be allowed into the White House is with an engraved invitation in hand.

Instead of deleting this, pass it on. Let everyone know these people are unfit to represent this great nation. The uninformed will never hear the truth from the press, who wants Kerry elected!

Those who buy the Kerry facade, beware what you vote for - - - you may regret that you got it!

1. Urban Legend - It's Bogus
Teresa Heinz Kerry, Radical Leftist?
'Tis the season for partisan attacks on presidential candidates — and their wives too, evidently. The first half of a widely circulated email discussing Teresa Heinz Kerry, wife of Democratic contender John Kerry and heiress to the Heinz family fortune, accurately recounts some of the salient facts of her biography. The second half, alleging that Mrs. Kerry has used her vast wealth to support radical causes through donations to an organization called the Tides Foundation, is false.

4. THANK YOU!
I already sent him a snopes on the Taps story. Never thought to look this one up. It's perfect!!! Just what I needed.

Here's what I replied:

"Okay, I won't delete it right away but I'm not going to pass it on. It's a bunch of hateful tripe. It's just a slam piece that attempts to make connections and misrepresentations that just aren't true. You're smarter than this. You're a highly intelligent, logical man. Check the facts when you get things like this. De-construct the propaganda.

There is nothing as "scary" as another four years of George W. Bush."

*off to email snopes link* :bounce:

5. Bogus or not....
....Karl Rove should be mindful of the warning given to him last year when Theresa said that "her money would only come into the campaign if they chose to attack her"

GW's worst nightmare

6. I get the feeling
that the Repugs are very intimidated by Mrs. Kerry, she is very independent and opinionated, something they are not used to with to. I think she is very cool and a refreshing change to the usual first lady behavior.

9. Plus she's had the benefit of watching 8 years of Hillary bashing...
She'll have taken notes.

None of it will be a surprise, and she has an idea of what to expect. Of how much hate will be directly toward her.

She'll know that trying to ride it out will not work. That the rethugs had to be showed the door, that they have to be handled firmly and decisively.

11. Exactly what Teresa said on 60 Minutes Sunday night...
"they didn't mind taking my ex-husbands money so I don't think they really want to go there." I love her, she is so refreshing and independent. A very loving and protective woman. When I hear anything said against her, I want to throw my shoe into the TV screen. She is going to make a wonderful "First Lady."

"A lot of hard-earned money, made through many years of hawking catsup, mustard, and pickles has fallen into the hands of two people who despise successful entrepreneurship and who believe in the confiscatory redistribution of wealth."

Ask your Dad to back this up with facts. Guess what? It's pure bullshit. Made up lies.

As a matter of fact, tell him you don't want any more emails like this unless every statement is backed up with facts.

Methinks he might stop sending you this crap.

14. I wish he would stop.
I had started a long sentence by sentence/paragraph by paragraph argument to the whole thing. But I kept getting angrier and more upset that I had to stop. If I had continued, I would have ended up telling him to Cheney himself and a few other choice words.

The worst thing is that I know he's being used as a tool just like hundreds of thousands of others to pass these lies along. :(

13. Update
Like I stated in #4 above, I tried to be nice about it with my response then followed with the debunking link from bookman. He had emailed two pieces to me...this one and the one floating around about the origin of Taps.

He emailed me back this morning on reply from the Taps piece. First, he reply-forwarded my "Sorry, this is an urban legend. Here's the background at snopes". His only comment at the top was the sum total of a message "a correction has been sent". Then he sent a separate email to me stating:

"Hi, I'm just the messenger. Like a duffus, I just pass these things along. Interesting that while they dispute the origin, they don't provide substantive evidence of what really happened."

Of course, he (apparently) didn't bother to comment on the Kerry debunk.

*big sigh*

19. And it is obvious that there is nothing "manly" about Bush.
Hell, the smirking, strutting, faux cowboy had to stuff a pair of gym socks and a two liter Diet Coke down the front of his flight suit to give the impression that he was "packing".

20. A C-Span caller this morning IMPLIED she is a WHITE SUPREMACIST!!!!
He said (not exact, but what I was able to catch): She was born in Mozambique, she studied in South Africa...therefore (implication) she is a white supremacist. She has to be watched. And he sounded like a black caller.
I seem to remember reading an article that explained her family got persecuted in Mozambique and had to leave because they were AGAINST white supremacy... Anybody has a link to this info?

That must have been during open lines. I really have a hard time watching Cspan anymore. Sadly, it really does bring out the rabid fringe. I wish the host would start asking for sources when callers do that kind of crap.

21. liburl
as long as he gets the desired reaction from you, he's going to keep it up. i'm sorry to say this about your father, and hope it doesn't offend, but he's using some of the tactics of a stalker. he can't control your thoughts, so he disrupts them.

the angrier you get, the more glee he'll derive from the power surge he feels from impacting you.

you 2 are involved in a no-holds-barred hatefest that will eat your relationship alive.

you shd stop responding to his attacks. send a short, courteous note to him that you no longer care to discuss politics w/him. he'll continue to bait you, but you must give *no* response to any political comment, even if inserted as an ambush w/in an innocuous communique.

sorry you have to put up w/this. freepers are hard enough to ignore when they aren't related.

22. Not offended at all.
Thanks for the advice. We generally avoid (at least I do) any political discussions as we're wholly on opposite sides. It's always been that way. I've always had a problem with his "I've got mine" "taxes! *spit*" "liberals *spit*" attitude. But I've won over a few battles on the local level by acting like a brat (only after the reasoned arguments never got me anywhere.)

The relationship's always been shaky for a whole host of reasons but primarily because he CAN'T control my thoughts. This has been proven time and again. We didn't speak or see each other for over three years at one point (no politics involved in that one). So, I'm not worried about feeding him anything with responses/replies. Like I said, it's the first one I've replied to.

But, I think I'm going to have to start a campaign to forward 'interesting' tidbits of actual news to him despite (or to spite) his telling me there's no need to because he's immune.

go here:

Start keeping a "politics" e-mail file. I have over a hundred "right-back-atcha's" in mine. Just copy and paste.
Don't forget to "reply all".

Although he's supporting it by sending it around, he didn't author the piece. The debunk sent via reply all was enough I think. If nothing else, it makes the rest of the receivers think twice about what he's sending them from here on out.
