According to campaign spending laws,Kerry only has 2 weeks to spend his $ |
|
Is this true? So once he accepts the nomination he has to revert to the $75 million granted in public financing, right? He essentially has to shoot his wad in the next 2 weeks.

1. That's why I don't understand what the big fundraising push is for. |
|
He can't possibly spend what he has in 2 weeks, so he's just going to turn it over to the DNC, which can take donations at any time. So the only difference is after the deadline we just donate directly to the DNC, right?

the big push, and this is just speculation, is to see just how much they can raise.
If they can raise an appreciable amount that makes them suspect they can get more money by foregoing the 75 million, then they may do that...if they dont, well it will just go to the DNC...no harm no foul.

3. If he raises enough and it looks like it can continue |
|
he can bypass public funds altogether and have no limits at all.

4. They won't pass up a free $75M. |
|
The rest of the money will probably go to the DNC.

5. If JFK foregoes public funding |
|
Make it a campaign issue.... demand that the $75 million go towards restoring health care benefits for members of the National Guard, and challenge * to do the same and "get off of the public teat".
