'Doonesbury' Artist Trudeau Skewers Bush |
|
NEW YORK - Cartoonist Garry Trudeau, who has skewered politicians for decades in his comic strip "Doonesbury," tells Rolling Stone magazine he remembers Yale classmate George W. Bush as "just another sarcastic preppy who gave people nicknames and arranged for keg deliveries." http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=519&ncid=703&e=5&u=/ap/20040715/ap_on_re_us/bush_trudeau

I actually think that he has other people that arrange the keg deliveries now. That's one of the perks that comes with the job.

that's news... i gotta look at garry's toons in a diff perspective now, esp when it features *
on edit: check out this interesting bit from the article-- "Trudeau said he penned his very first cartoon to illustrate an article in the Yale Daily News on Bush and allegations that his fraternity, DKE, had hazed incoming pledges by branding them with an iron.
The article in the campus paper prompted The New York Times to interview Bush, who was a senior that year. Trudeau recalled that Bush told the Times "it was just a coat hanger, and ... it didn't hurt any more than a cigarette burn."
"It does put one in mind of what his views on torture might be today," Trudeau said."

4. Where's that Bush interview in the NYT? |
|
Today's assignment to our good Friends at DU, is to find that original New York Times interview with G.W.B and link it here.
What a find that would be.

6. did he speak with a Texas accent while at Yale? |
|
That is what I'd like to know - the boy who was born in CT with a silver spoon in his mouth now goes out of his way to make people believe he was born & raised in Texas.
