Seymour Hersh says the US government has videotapes of boys being sodomized at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.

"The worst is the soundtrack of the boys shrieking," the reporter told an ACLU convention last week. Hersh says there was "a massive amount of criminal wrongdoing that was covered up at the highest command out there, and higher."

I'll try transcribing some of the more important bits.


Some of the worse that happened that you don't know about, ok. Videos, there are women there. Some of you may have read they were passing letters, communications out to their men. This is at Abu Ghraib which is 30 miles from Baghdad <...>

The women were passing messages saying "Please come and kill me, because of what's happened". Basically what happened is that those women who were arrested with young boys/children in cases that have been recorded. The boys were sodomized with the cameras rolling. The worst about all of them is the soundtrack of the boys shrieking that your government has. They are in total terror it's going to come out.

It's impossible to say to yourself how do we get there? who are we? Who are these people that sent us there?

DUers: I know that this has been talked about before, but the whole story seems to be on the precipice of the memory hole. The Web is the only place where this story seems to be getting any attention. We need to keep haranguing our public officials and (especially) mainstream press until this story is told.

This goes beyond politics. These monsters must be called to account for allowing this to happen.

By the way: Let's ask Rick Santorum if he feels that the rape of children should go unprosecuted.

This goes way beyond horror. Nearly as sickening is the thought that our elected officials already know all of this. Many in the press do, too. The public, however, is in a coma.

You know what--I don't even give a damn about whether or not Kerry takes this up. The general population should be storming the city walls about this.

8. On Kos, they give a reason why not: Snuff/child porn laws.

Apparently the audio is enough to curdle your blood, though, so that may be released. From what I read, also audible in the background are the mothers of the children pleading for the children simply to be killed rather than tortured in this way.

I trust Hersh when he says that you "have not seen evil, yet". This is evil. What monstrous behavior! Those perpetrating the coverup are just as guilty as the rapists. In legal terms, this is called misprision of a felony: an intentional, orchestrated coverup. Anyone at the Pentagon who has their toe in the water over this is a criminal.
