Those are not signed, and traditionally represent the official policy and views of the newspaper publishing them. In essence, it's signed by the entire editorial page staff.
By my goodness! How simply dreadful to be crass and biased -- why, it's not like anyone has died because of the policies of the Bush administration. Well, not that many people. Okay, there was that football player guy, a real shame that. But really, is that any reason to be crass? None of the best people (all of whom write for the Times editorial page) are so crass as to get all up in arms about a few thousand deaths and the draining of the Treasury. What's the big deal? Right, Timesmen?

THAT bad.
Bloggers can be crass, etc.
From the opinion piece: Beyond its power as a source of news and commentary, the Internet has proved itself to be the ultimate fund-raising tool. Bloggers can be crass and biased, but politicians no longer scoff at their rich online realm. Hence the red carpet at the conventions — at least for some of them.

11. I think your missing the REAL point ... |
|
The newspapers are realizing that bloggers are taking away their power to editorialize. Now ANYONE can print their material worldwide.
They are losing their control over written punditry and they don't like it.
My take is that they should hire some people WORTH READING and than maybe people will stop reading blogs.

14. I have a couple of friends on the internet... |
|
...who are newspaper editors, and they are heartily biased against bloggers and web sites as news sources. They find the fact that "anyone" can offer news and commentary very frightening. They say there's no way to find the truth in the midst of all the thousands of blogs.
Yep. They're scared. Most news professionals are. Of us. And we've only just begun.
