great letter from my uncle re: yesterday's vote on the FMA

Hurray! (kind of)

Dear Kim,

"Kind of" because it should never have come to this, and because those self-righteous, hypocritical, stupid, stingy, mean-spirited, undemocratic, right-wing, shit-for-brains lying assholes will probably try again to constitutionally deny gays & lesbians the right to marry. The right-wing claims of belief in democracy ring mightly damn hollow
these days.

Yes, we want to export our version of "democracy" to Iraq and every other place in the world where we can take over. But we don't really mean freedom for everybody! That would be much too liberal! Trust us; we know what's right for you!

That shit this week about contingency plans to delay the election in case of a terrorism attack sounded like the beginnings of a coup attempt. I guess we should just call W. by his real name: Adolph.

I hope for your sake and for all of us that we can reverse this horrendous shift to the right that has taken over the country. I'm slightly encouraged by the Kerry-Edwards standing in the polls.

My uncle rocks! I only wonder how he turned out like this, while my father became such a sanctimonious Bible-thumping prig.

1. What a great uncle!
It must be heartening to have his support!

I have a kick ass uncle myself and we are very close. My husband and kids have breakfast every saturday morning with his family.

He grew up with a Catholic education and has disavowed all religion (except he thinks he needs to go to confession and confess his hatred of organized religion) because he is absolutely despises the hate and intolerance that comes from religion and from this administration.

I have a brother who is a bible thumper. He came to Illinois to visit and we had a flag hanging from our front porch and that surprised him. He was happy to see that even as a liberal I still loved the flag. Crazy, but I guess we all have to have a bible thumper in the family.

Your uncle sounds like a loving, intelligent man! I loved his insight on exporting democracy!

2. Your uncle is my kinda guy: (LOL)
"he thinks he needs to go to confession and confess his hatred of organized religion" :7 ROFL

Kinda like Klinger on M*A*S*H:

Colonel Potter (noticing Klinger praying during a moment of silence): I thought you were an atheist?

Klinger: I gave it up for Lent.

Nice to have an uncle who rocks, isn't it? Unfortunately, we never got close until I moved to the east coast. I miss him.
