I'm getting pretty fed up with this excrement
Yesterday, and the day before I check into icasualties and find that there are 887 American deaths. This morning I go to icasualties and find 992, going back through the news releases I found a blurb adding two more to a vehicle accident on the 11th.
I want to know what thew hell is going on, since the chimp* pulled his slick maneuver moving the handover up there have been 38 Americans killed and there hasn't been a damn word of it, I'm so damned sick of this news blackout. I don't know what to do about it, this needs to be shouted from the rooftops, damn the reptile controlled media to hell.

2. Nobody reads newspapers for news.
They are just for classified, cupons, sales and sports.

11. One of the reasons our society is in such bad shape
Taking the leisure to read the morning paper(get up an hour earlier for it) gives you a lot better perspective on things than staying up an hour late to get the soundbites on the 11PM news. The paper allows you to go back and reread and digest what is being said.

3. You must not have gotten the memo.
Dead soldiers are no longer considered front page news since we handed over sovereignty to the puppet regime. Try looking on page three of the "lifestyles" section.

4. This topic is soooo important ...
I'm outraged that somehow the daily death toll in Iraq has fallen off the media radar! It makes me sick to my heart that a daily death toll has been "normalized" so that it is not big news. We are now used to several American soldiers being killed each day, as part of normal reality. Soon we will be able to tolerate -- not even blink -- if the toll is 15, 20 or 50 dead each day as the cost of protecting the empire.

It reminds me of the Vietnam era -- but at least in those days the media had the decency to scroll the "honor roll" on local news each night of the names of the dead.

Another horrible, dehumanizing aspect of this war is that we are never, never told how many Iraqis have died. Yes, we occasionally hear estimates of the civilian death toll of about 5,000 to 10,000, but how many Iraqi soldiers and insurgents have died?

At the beginning of the war some military spokesman-prick said "we don't do body counts," -- probably because people were so horrified by the slaughter of Popie's first war (estimates of between 100,000 to 250,000 Iraqi soldiers) and they don't want that info out.

But even in the Civil War, WWI, WWII, etc, simply as a matter of record we always knew how many "enemy" were killed. Now our government acts as though these fighters, whatever their motives, aren't even people.

7. Maybe the media is waiting for the 1000th death
and then MAYBE they'll make a big deal about it. But I agree with freddie, lately there has been little reported about the deaths. Generally something like "two American soldiers were killed today in an ambush." But nothing else like, ok so that's now the 992nd death of an American soldier since Bush declared mission accomplished, or the 32nd death since the turnover of control to the Iraqis. but hey, who's keeping score anyway ?

9. Im my paper this morning
in the LTTE section this topic had 4 letters all wondering where the media is on the casuality list. A local soldier was killed about 2 weeks ago and he was put on page 16. The letters writers, all 4 more pissed, usually one wingnut will write in say they died for a good cause, but no today.

12. I heard on the news last week it topped 1,000 deaths.
Maybe the numbers you're looking at are minus the non-war deaths (car accidents, etc.). For example, two killed this week were killed in a vehicle accident (per the govt......like who believes them anymore).

14. 1000 deaths last week
I heard that also, but the 1000 number that was floating around last week referred to either 1000 coalition deaths, which includes British, Italian and others -- or 1000 deaths in both Afghanistan and Iraq.

But not to worry, the number of deaths in Iraq alone is fast approaching 1000. Probably next week some time.

13. This alone should be enough to remove this idiot*
Lying then flip flopping on the reasons to illegally invade a foreign country, killing thousands of their citizens and soldiers, desposing their government, stealing their natural resources, getting thousands of our soldiers wounded and by this time next week over a thousand of them killed, should be more than enough to ride this shameful sham our of town with a fresh coat of tar and feathers.
