It seems to suggest that if one prefers Batman to Spider-Man, then one must also prefer Bush to Kerry.

That's bullshit. Batman is infinitely cooler than Spider-Man, and also infinitely less annoying. If I had to pick which candidate is most like which superhero, I would say Kerry is most like Batman, because he has experienced firsthand the horrors of war and wants to prevent others from experiencing the same thing, just like Batman was personally affected by crime, so he tries to protect others from it. And Bush would be Aquaman, because Aquaman sucks.

Actually, I'm a DC man all the way. I don't bother with Spider-Man, and do prefer Batman. I'm not saying one hero is better than the other.

It's just interesting the parallels between the two candidates.

PS: Aquaman is pretty useless, I agree. I prefer Flash and Green Lantern.

Yesterday I made my monthly run to the comic book store, and I told the owner about your article. He agreed with me that Kerry is more like Batman, but he thought the superhero Bush most resembles is Bucky, Captain America's old sidekick. His reasoning was that Bucky was a rather useless partner for a guy who did all the real work. I asked him if he thought that Dick Cheney was like Captain America, and he just laughed and said he's more like Dr. Doom.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed your article, as did some other superhero aficianados I know. It's really fun to join together something as crucial as this election and something as escapist as comics.
