AL OUJA, Iraq - Saddam Hussein, dressed in a greasy blue jumpsuit, spends his afternoons pumping gas at this sleepy village's service station, just south of his hometown of Tikrit.

Or at least that's how it looks to visiting motorists who pull in for a fill-up and quickly do a double take at Mohammed Hussein Daoud, with his unmistakeable heavy jowls, bushy mustache and big dark sunglasses.

''All of us around here have one grandfather,'' an ancestor nine generations back, ''so it's inevitable,'' explains the 54-year-old Saddam look-alike. ''My name is similar, and so is my face.''

Similar doesn't begin to describe Daoud's resemblence to the missing dictator, a distant cousin who for a time attended the same grade school. Though Daoud was never recruited as one of Saddam's official stand-ins, he could be his double: Same paunch, same bushy salt-and-pepper eyebrows, same lined face and sagging cheeks. All he lacks is a rifle in his raised hand.

ahh, one of my favorite topics. it does indeed look like we have a saddam double in custody. see the two articles below. the second one has a nice photo comparison. does anyone find it amazing that while the media made such a big deal of saddam's many doubles prior to the war, since then, there's NO mention of his doubles at all.

Clearly these accredited journalists from San Francisco and Sydney must have been hallucinating badly, or simply mistook a clean-shaven court janitor for the alleged President of Iraq, because less than two hours later they were swiftly cast aside in favor of the "A" team from New York, headed by Mossad favorite Christiane Amanpour of CNN, a hard-nosed chief correspondent who never let truth get in her way during Gulf War One.

Christiane had photographs all right, in fact she had several hundred feet of edited video footage direct from the 'courtroom', though we have no proof of where the mock courtroom actually is, or where the video footage was shot. But as we will see quite clearly in a moment, Amanpour's damning footage actually proves that the prisoner cannot be President Saddam Hussein, leaving us with the problem of how to label the different players in this bizarre Orwellian tableaux. So let us shorten the name of the Mossad imposter from "Sham Saddam" to simple "Shaddam", and refer to the absent Saddam Hussein as "President Hussein", which was and still is his correct title in international law.
