Peggy Noonan's advice to GWB
given in the voice of a demented kindergarten teacher...

snip>
...When you are president and you are doing hard things in history like making war, and you are doing it in the jingle-jangle of the modern media environment, you have a kind of moral responsibility to make it clear that you hate war, really hate it, and love peace. This would seem obvious, but is not. Men and women in the midst of planning war forget to say it and insist it. Sly old FDR didn't forget, though. Lincoln didn't forget it either. He always made it clear he thought the impending and then ongoing war a painful tragedy. Mr. Bush has not made it clear, or has not repeated often enough, that he hopes for peace, yearns for peace, loves it. He seems part of the very drama he has been forced to wage, and seems sometimes to enjoy it.

This is delicate. A leader cannot seem ambivalent about crucial actions and decisions, and he can't seem so weighed down by the facts and implications of those decisions that people begin to wonder if he's lost his fight. There's a reason people like a happy warrior. A happy warrior tends to be a winning warrior. And yet. In the world we live in a leader must seem almost palpably yearning for life and peace even as he makes tough decisions that will soon deny either or both to some.

20. Is everyone aware about this regarding Nooner.............?
She became famous for writing the elected Bush's speech which used the term..... "A Thousand Points of Light." Elected-Bush even went on and started a foundation by that name in which they recognized folks who've done good works as "A Point of Light." That term, "A Thousand points of light," came from a Star Trek episode. Now, Nooner must be, what,.... about 55 years old? If so, she was about 16 years old when Star Trek was on the air. So she essentially stole the line from Star Trek. Anyone know if she ever gave Roddenbury credit?

Now she uses "Jingle, jangle." Like from Bob Dylan's, "Mr. Tambourine Man?"

What a rip off artist.

3. Peggy "Nooner" is actually recommending...
an acting coach!

Bush* can't even remember his lines, much less the complicated character arc Peggy is hinting at!

is that it would be a fucking lie, but I guess he's never had any problem with that.

5. Can someone slap some sense into that woman ??
Because Peggy, he is not a man of peace. He is an arrogant asshole that believes in war and dying, so long as it is someone else fighting and dying. Get real, girl!

7. She *seems* to believe that he's just overlooked this
That it is something that he just needs to work a little harder to communicate- that he's just been so busy hating war that he forgot to tell everyone that he hate's war.

6. Oh I SEE Peggy!
It's perfectly ok to wage an immoral unjust war on another people as long as you keep repeating how much you hate it! Whether it's true or not, she never addresses. Are we supposed to ASSUME he hates it, or is that part of the equation just not as important as the IMAGE of him hating it? Somehow I suspect it's the latter.

Is that like the parent telling the child before they beat them that this is going to hurt them more than the child?

Whatevah.

Bush has had a boner for offing Saddam for years now. The fix was in long ago--he yearned for this war.

"He seems part of the very drama he has been forced to wage, and seems sometimes to enjoy it."

I can believe that. I heard him say recently that he prefers to "whip them over there..."

I have no doubt that he would to love send troops (other people's children) to whip Iran and Syria and Saudi Arabia and North Korea too. I hope the taxpayers don't give him the money for more wars "to protect the American people and make the world a safer place."

Peggy Noonan is effin' batty....she has been sucking off the conservative welfare teat so long it has started to run out her ears.
In a well run republic, she would be gently consigned to a straitjacket and encouraged to write with a crayon stuck between her toes.

27. Noonan has been revolting me....
.....for as long as I can remember.

Almost 10 years ago, she went on a Bill Moyers show and decried the
banning of God from "the Public Square." I began screaming at the
TV that God would have been delighted to hang around but that her corporate/consumer values had already banned the public square from the public square and now He has to fight for a parking place at CostCo out on the strip....or something. It was sort of an incoherent rant.

I do like her voice, though...sort of school-marmish in a
telephone-sex way.

I ascribed one of the pieces in our first "modern mirth" to her and William Bennett, in fact. It's called "Growing Up Right!" and frankly it's not totally on point, but I'd just as soon hang all stilted prose sentences and moron moralizing of the cultural Right around her neck; it makes fuming a lot easier.

28. I was trying to think of a way
to express my deep, deep dislike and distrust of this woman. It finally came to me. I think she's more dangerous and more insane thatn Ann Coulter. I really do. Ann Coulter is so over the top and obviously unhinged that she many actually help our cause. "Nooner". (I love that name) is always polite in an ooey, gooey, sacharine sort of way. I can see some idiots falling for her drivel. Plus, she literally makes me feel like upchucking.:puke: :puke:

29. She's arguing for MORE Orwellian Lying?
Notice how she drags Lincoln and FDR (both Democrats in the modern configuration) down to the Bushevik levels.

Those men actually HATED war FOR REAL, unlike Bunnypants* who clearly loves it like a giggly Caligula.

So, Nooner is telling him to lie some more.

You know, that's advice the Emperor of Amerika* can follow.
