Blue Cross is making be buy two perscriptions when I use to buy one!
Edited on Thu Jul-15-04 02:42 PM by Mountainman
My medication is 450 mgs per day. I was taking 3 150 mg tablets once a day. My refills were always 90 tablets a month.

I was told at the pharmacy that they can't refil my perscription because Blue Cross said that I now need a prior approval to get the 90 tablets in one perscription. I'm not sure where the prior approval is supposed to come from. The pharmacy told me to ask my doctor or the insurance company.

From my doctor's nurse I found out that she has a whole bunch of these requests for prior approval to do and it will take 3 weeks for her to get to mine. I was out of medication so she gave me a month's supply out of free samples. Then she calls me and wants the phone number of the paharmacy I go to. She tells me that Blue Cross doesn't want to pay for the 90 tablets, they only want to pay for 30 tablets so I have to get one perscription for 30 150 mgs and one perscription for 30 300 mgs and take one of each instead of the 3 150mgs. I'm not sure the two work the same since the 150 mgs last all day and I think the 300 mgs was to be taken twice daily.

I just think something has to be done so that insurance companies can't dictate to the doctor what my medication should be.
