'Fahrenheit' Luring TV Viewers Into Theaters - AP\MSNBC
Moore's in-your-face film brings perspective not seen on news

<snip>

NEW YORK - Time was, you had to go to the movies to see the news. Then came television, which brought newsreels right into your home.

Now, in this election year a half-century later, people in huge numbers have found that getting news about the war in Iraq and the politics behind it makes a trip to the multiplex well worth the bother.

Who could have forecast such a relapse?

Could be, neither fans nor detractors of Michael Moore, whose “Fahrenheit 9/11” has uprooted couch potatoes by the carload since premiering three weeks ago.

And the Internet helps too, no???

2. Oh this is gooooooood
Secret to 'Fahrenheit's' success

For starters: the video footage of recuperating U.S. soldiers, Iraqi casualties, President Bush in that classroom paralyzed for seven minutes after learning of the terrorist attacks. This is video you have likely seen nowhere else, and you emerge from the theater wondering, “Why the heck not?”

(snip)

And it provides a bracing alternative to the claims for objectivity that reign at TV news outlets (including, naturally, the “fair-and-balanced”-boasting Fox News Channel, whose lack of objectivity is probably its greatest asset). These Big Media news providers have served as Bush administration facilitators ever since his disputed election, declares Moore, a little guy whose message is unmistakably his own.

5. Michael Moore would not have NEEDED to make this film, IF
the media had been DOING THEIR JOBS.. propaganda is served to us "free" ..24/7... Michael's movie proves that people will PAY , if it means they can get the news..

Look at all the "contrarian" books that are selling like hotcakes.. They too are providing the public with "the other side of the story"..

Thank you FOXMSRNCCNN..and all ghe others.. You have shown us "your truth" for long enough, and even if we have to pay for it, we prefer to see BOTH sides..

It's not a partisan issue, per se.....it's a fairness issue..

You guys "sold" us a war...sold us a "pResident...sold us garbage...we are tired of it...Talk amongst yourselves....the rest of us have found new sources for information..even if it's not "free"..

a humorous sidelight... Bill Schneider was crowing about the Butler report, and how Tony's approval was only 35%...and yet OUR PRESIDENT's approval was 55%, so he was less vulnerable to the "flak" from the WMD furor.. What he missed completely was the fact that Tony's approval was low, BECAUSE THE PRESS AND MEDIA IN BRITAIN ARE NOT LAPDOG FLUNKIES...AND THE PEOPLE OF BRITAIN SEE MANY SIDES OF AN ISSUE...AND WE SEE ONE SIDE ONLY....Buy a clue, Bill

6. excellent points
our journalists have been whores. It's so sad. We've had excellent people in the past. Smart, well-read, thoughtful people who weren't bought commodities wearing logos for their corporate bosses. It's so disheartening to see who we have now. They flat out didn't do their jobs. They have blood on their hands the same as the Bush cabal. They took dictation instead of investigating. They're not seekers of facts but stenographers. Abandon them. They've abandoned us.
