6. You mean this commercial is non-union?
That's not really cool. What's the deal?

9. if you're a low budget filmmaker, its either nonunion or nonexistant
Edited on Thu Jul-15-04 07:24 PM by thebigidea
though SAG has been trying to help slightly with that "experimental" classification... the paperwork is still nightmarish...

MoveOn should not be shooting non-union in NYC. Really not cool.

12. It's interviews. You don't have to be an actor, just have an opinion.

16. Oh, okay. A casting call, these are the roles
But you don't have to be an actor, let alone in the union.

It's only NYC after all, hard to find union actors there.

Excuse me for misunderstanding.

I'm sorry, but this is not cool. MoveOn should not do it this way.

Kerry wouldn't cross a picket line. We have unions for good reasons.

20. NYC's a union town. They ain't got the money to pay union actors go
film somewhere else.

Seeing as I've made films nonunion for many years due to desperate poverty...

maybe someone should send some teamsters over to beat the crap out of me or something.

24. You should understand that the union is about more
than your opportunity to fulfill your personal artistic goals.

This is fundamental and if you don't undertand why unions matter then you should re-examine your commitment to Democratic politics. I am astonished that MoveOn would produce a non-union commercial, esp in NYC. I'm sorry to give fodder to Fox but this is a mistake.

25. Hmm, yeah. I think I'll forget my personal artistic goals.
When did I make a commitment to Democratic politics? I'm a goofy mediamaker hopping mad at the Bushies. Never claimed to be anything else.

26. Oh, okay, excuse me. I thought this was DemocraticUnderground
and we were all interested in progressive policies. But I guess that only applies when you don't require the services of workers on your own terms. So you might want to read the RNC platform - might suit you better. Is there an RNCUnderground?

That is why I am doing what I can to help them. I really appreciate what they are doing and think we should all help out as much as possible.

23. They're not going to get that help by leaving people in the lurch
They screwed up badly with the scheduling for the "house parties", and have made some messes.

It's better, as we've learned from the current misadministration, to be honest about the situation, and scale back on projects until they have enough people.

I know I won't be so trusting in the future, and I know several others who won't, also.

31. Hi! No Offense BUT...
I hope this one is better than the one that's currently airing -- with the couple having coffee and distressing over GWB, it is exactly like a million other political "people just like me" ads, I loved the earlier MoveOn ads (from the contest?)
