Any sign of Clark at 2004 convention?
Looks like the candidate who is the most effective, credible and articulate critic of George W. Bush's foreign policy and the decision to go to Iraq is still being frozen out by the Boys and Girls Club, also known as the Democratic Party. Looks like the "he's a Republican" label is proving fatal.

Does anybody know different? The following speaker list, while it is not final, is not encouraging:

Speaker Schedule Highlights

Monday, July 26
Representative Stephanie Tubbs-Jones of Ohio
Representative Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin
Representative Bob Menendez of New Jersey
Former Vice President Al Gore
Former President Jimmy Carter
Former President Bill Clinton

Tuesday, July 27
Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts
Christie Vilsack of Iowa
Governor Janet Napolitano of Arizona
Teresa Heinz Kerry

Wednesday, July 28
Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico
Mayor Martin O'Malley of Baltimore, Maryland
Retired Marine Lt. Col. Steve Brozak of New Jersey
Elizabeth Edwards of North Carolina
Vice Presidential nominee Senator John Edwards of North Carolina

Thursday, July 29
Former Green Beret Jim Rassman
Alex Kerry
Vanessa Kerry
Chris Heinz
Andre Heinz
Senator Max Cleland of Georgia
Presidential Nominee Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts

4. That's funny
He's anything but a flash-in-the-pan on the central issue of this campaign, Iraq. Which also happens to be the weakest link of the Kerry-Edwards ticket.

19. Gen. Clark is to be the featured speaker at a fundraiser for
Democratic candidate for US Congress, Jane Mitakides (OH, 3rd district).

While this has nothing to do with the convention, it seems anyone who can draw donors in at $500.00 a head is not quite yesterday's news.

General Clark has been working for Democratic candidates virtually non-stop since withdrawing from the race. Let's not relegate someone to the dustbins of history while he's bustin' his hump for us, okay?

2. Today, either MSNBC or CNN reported that all of the former Prez
candidates will get to speak at the convention. That did not include DK because he is still running.

5. maybe he's not on the prime time list
but I saw him described in a fairly recent interview (n/l) as Former Supreme Commander of NATO and current foreign affairs advisor to Senator John Kerry. Thought that was fairly hopeful.

6. Dean's not speaking, either.
He has more delegates than Clark does. DK's not speaking, and he's still running, etc. . No reason Clark should jump to the head of the line, IMO...

8. Read post #2...
Clark didn't "jump to the head of the line." sheesh. That sounds like something my 11 year old son would say. :eyes:

15. There *isn't* any reason...
Dean did more to give this party a shot at victory than Clark ever did, and he's not speaking, so why should Clark?

:wtf:

17. Lets play nice
You know the primaries are over. We are supposed to unite and all that crap right?
So why don't we just all get over our egos that were hurt by our candidate not being picked. Get over it. Dean did something very good for the party, but so did every other candidate including Lieberman.

Hey, mine didn't win either but I'm not still bitter about it. (except that Kerry may very well be the worst public speaker that I have ever heard)

Now lets all play nice.

23. 'Clark bashing'?
I've read this entire exchange, and Cuban_Liberal hasn't bashed Clark; if he's done anything, it's simply to list reasons why others should be offered a speaking role before Clark is offered one, and that isn't 'bashing'.

10. I read that all the primary candidates will have a role at the Convention
I'm sure it won't be primetime speaking roles - but I think everybody will get their chance to step up and endorse Kerry/Edwards.

11. sorry if this has been covered. why again is christie vilsack speaking?
i mean i know she endorsed him when not everyone else was, which was important, but i would much much much rather see some minorities who actually represent different parts of the country (in our government)

thanks

12. She helped him win Iowa.
That is why he is now our nominee. His campaign ballooned from there. I am hoping Kerry adds some minority speakers before this is all said and done. If he doesn't, I will be VERY disappointed. :(

Nice to see you again, faithnotgreed. :hi:
