Veterans of Many Presidential Campaigns...Weigh In, here!
Edited on Thu Jul-15-04 07:39 PM by KoKo01
What are the chances of reform of Bush's dismantling of America? What hope do we have?

Whore Media is in place...worse than I've seen ever...partisan bickering and friends and neighbors bickering the most rancorous I remember...

Globilization and WAR the main topics. War I've seen before...remember Vietnam?

What can we hope to accomplish? We couldn't do it with Carter...or Clinton.

What's next for us? Any thoughts? I'll be quiet and read..without comment.

I'm so worried and distraught...I can't really contribute anything..

1. hope only if media and RW radio can be reformed
It doesn't seem to matter what a person's views might originally be if the only info s/he has is FAUX, CNN, Hannity etc

I went from IA in 89 back to OK......was really going??? until I discovered M Malloy on WLS (accessible in Tulsa because of 50,000 watt range after dark) and I learned I could get political info on the internet...

I knew what I was hearing/reading in OK was not correct but without alternative news sources I began to 'doubt' what I knew was/is reality

2. Never seen anything in America quite like this...
All I can say is "Thank God Gore invented the Internet!" (sarcasm ,of course). The Internet is absolutely the most wonderful thing that has happened to Democrats. It will allow us to defeat this administration. It has helped us raise money that would have never been raised. It has helped us have a voice that would have never been heard. It has helped us unify like we would have never been able to do otherwise. If the press and television media were our only sources, we would be hopeless. We are getting a grass roots organization going at hide speed, made possible by high speed Internet. This is going to save our nation. This year, we make history.

4. Here ya go, this is our hope, the media cannot control the truth....
Does internet create democracy?
Alinta Thornton

(...) Conclusion
As I have discussed, the Internet certainly has the capacity to expand participative democracy in a revitalised public sphere.

While I have discussed some of the factors that will affect this capacity in Chapter 6, I will now draw together some of the points I have made throughout this thesis.

Structure
The Internet's structure means that it will be difficult for conglomerate telecommunications or media organisations to gain the type of control currently exercised over traditional media, even if they take control of Internet service providers. <snip

We know it's huge. We know it's historic. But damned if we have any idea whether it's good or bad.

The "it" is the Internet's impact on American life.<snip
