BBV: We need paper sign-in books, not just paper ballots.
Starting in 2006, California will use electronic voting machines which print paper ballots behind glass.

But it will also be using electronic sign-in, according to Bev Harris' post here:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=1993788&mesg_id=1997092&page=

This will allow ballot stuffing.

The machines can print additional ballots which no one selected, and the electronic sign-in can fraudulently sign-in people who didn't show up near the end of voting.

2. Yes, eliminating the paper poll books must be stopped
One would think this a no-brainer.

3. I'm disppointed that California decided to only allow...
...the paper ballots to print behind glass, instead of even giving counties a choice.

I'd rather voters put the ballot in the ballot box themselves.

Otherwise, the machine can print fake ballots.

5. There's No Excuse Not To Use Paper Ballots...
...and optical scanners, like we do in Leon County, Florida. They're cheaper, auditable, and have none of the problems that have been created with these electronic machines. I'm proud to have Ion Sancho as our Supervisor of Elections.
