The end of elections

In quite a few threads tonight, there has been talk of the end of elections.
In that post about Obama a few people were like, "if there's even elections in 2005"

Anybody want to fill me in.
I really don't see this happening.
And if it does how will it happen?
Doesn't it have to go to a vote.
This is a serious question because I have no idea how or why we would let this happen.

Please let me know.

1. Because we would not have a choice

Imagine this senario, heaven forbid:

Major terrorist nuclear attack in chicago and NY. In order to protect from further attacks the borders must be shut down immediately (both ways to insure the "terrorists" can't leave) and the country goes into a state of martial law in order to "find and bring the existing terrorists in the country to justice". At this time all threats are viewed as terrorist threats (including those questioning the government) and dissenters are hauled off to prison camps. The American public would be either so scared to say anything or freepers who know they are "patriotic" and nothing will happen to them. Dictatorship is THAT easy.

2. if we no longer have the three balances and checks......they will take

over the media, the justices, the house and the senate and institute their own government for their own agenda.....

Just as they barred the reporter in miami, and arrest the protesters of bush, and arrest others, there will be no free speech. They own the media now....and are on their way to be completely owned by corporate menality...which has all the rights of an individually but none of the responsibility.....

without the check and balance system....we are dead....we are at death door step....

if we have elections it will be like sadaam...only one person to vote for and if you do not vote for that person...you will be dead...

they will use police, and others and call it a terrorist threat...like they are the insurgents....or the iraqi people fighting for their rights .
