Whoopi not backing down cites treatment of Cleland, Wilson and Clarke
-snip-
"America's heart and soul is freedom of expression without fear of reprisal," she said in a statement.

"I find all this feigned indignation about 'Bush bashing' quite disingenuous," she said, noting the Bush administration has savagely gone after critics like former Sen. Max Cleland, Iraq whistleblower Joseph Wilson and ex-terrorism chief Richard Clarke.

"For the Republican Party to pretend this is new to them seems a little fake," she said.

"The fact that I am no longer the spokesman for SlimFast makes me sad, but not as sad as someone trying to punish me for exercising my right as an American to speak my mind."

20. Or maybe a statement that diet drinks contribute to the
continuing low self-esteem of women who don't fit the "approved" body silhouette. Women like, oh, I don't know, Laura Bush? Elizabeth Edwards?

How twisted is this, eh? If you support gee-dubya and $hrubco, you can say anything and everything. Doesn't matter if it's true or not, and 99% of the shit out of the repukes mouth is bullshit. However, if you are speaking out against the pResident...well, you know the rest.

(Bush campaign manager) Mehlman has repeatedly demanded that Kerry's camp release a video of the event, even going so far as to promise not to use the footage in ads.

Kerry campaign manager Mary Beth Cahill said tartly that he could have the video after Bush releases his military records and details of Vice President Cheney's secret energy task force.

Every time. Every friggin' time Mehlman asks for something from the Dems, Cahill needs to do this. Eventually Mehlman is just going to shut up. Don't know how bright he is, so it might take some time, though.

10. That's One Tough, Very Brave Woman
We know the media already has it's knives deep into her, again (remember all the Ted Danson crap), but who will rise to her defense? Will we hear from Rosie or Oprah or just a lot of silence, like we've been hearing.

To say this mugging of Whoopi was unpredicted is a total joke...she knew what type of hornet's nest she was stiring up and we knew they'd go after her full O'Reilly. Sure 'nuff and Lever Bros. caved. Weren't they owned by the Moonies anyway?

Whoopi, time and again, has stood up for what she believes and won't mince words nor back down. This lady has fought a lot of odds...far more than any lily white silver-spooned repugnican and is a true fighter.

Hopefully there will be a backlash now from our side. I'd love to see one of Bushyboy's fundraisers released for us to see...I mean the PRIVATE ones that cost $5-$10k to sit at a "Ranger's Table". Wanna bet that's far more offensive than anything Whoopi ever said?

Chenney 'em all!

Edited on Fri Jul-16-04 07:29 AM by FrustratedDemInNC
The hypocrisy in this administration is disgusting beyond belief. I love how they play the victim role if anybody dares point out facts or disagree with their dishonest agenda. I don't ever remember a president who has so viciously attacked, lied and displayed such arrogance towards people with opposing views. It has polarized our country so much and Kerry is desperately trying to correct that.

Kerry's messages are positive, their criticisms are not mean spirited or hateful. I was impressed when I heard them speak in Raleigh with an upbeat, hopeful plan for the future of this divided nation.

Unfortunately, due to the arrogance of *, the pubs, Rush and the like, Kerry will have to resort to defending the lies spewed. My hope is for him to calmly address the secrecy, mistakes, and the ongoing negativity this administration is responsible for. People need to be deprogrammed, the pubs have successfully brainwashed many Americans who blindly believe and follow this insanity.

If it's anything like the Cambridge diet from the 80s it isn't. I tried that once and ended up really sick. My mom was doing it with me, and she had heart palpitations-never had them before, and never had them afterwards.

26. Comedians are the "folk singers"
Not alot of you remember (probably being young), but during the 60's, during the repressive/oppressive atmosphere of Nixon/VietNam, it was the Folk Singers who were at the forefront of keeping the issues before the public and expressing anti-war sentiments. Baez, Peter, Paul & Mary, Dylan, etc etc. For us oldsters, the atmosphere in this country today, is such a deja vu feeling, unfortunately. The comedians are taking over that role, either consciously or unconsciously, and I applaud them for it. Evidently, history just makes a circle, and the similarities between now and the 60's are just astounding. One big difference, however: the young folks are not taking such an active role now, which is a shame.

these attacks are an outrage and that critisism of the President is un-American...I read Grand Old Party and they did "loyal opposition" during WWII. So now the reverse is the case and they think we should not be opposing what looks to be a way lamer war?
