You know had a Democrat gotten help from an ex con it would be all over the Drudge Report.

From today's NY POST:
'SOPRANO' MAKES A KILLING FOR BUSH

July 16, 2004 -- Sopranos gangster "Paulie Walnuts" joined a mob of diehard Republicans yesterday at a Queens fund-raiser that helped pump cash into President Bush's campaign.

Actor Tony Sirico, who plays the mobster on the hit HBO series "The Sopranos," joined more than 100 people at the Belle Harbor Yacht Club, which was sponsored by the Rockaway Republicans.

"I'm here because I'm a far-to-the-right Republican," he said.

Tony Sirico grew up in Brooklyn, New York and currently lives with his mother in Bensonhurst, New York. Tony is also not unfamiliar with the hard times and crime. In his younger days he was sent to jail on several occasions for holding up night clubs. During his stay in prison he became interested in acting after watching a theater group which came to perform. He also says that the film Public Enemy starring James Cagney had a big influence on him.

There's a good reason Tony Sirico is so convincing as the menacing Paulie Walnuts on "The Sopranos." Because before becoming an actor, Sirico was a mob-connected thug who dealt speed, packed a loaded Beretta, and was once actually declared a "danger to society" by a New York judge.

In fact, according to court records that read like a David Chase script, Sirico was a feared shakedown artist who preyed on Manhattan nightclubs and who once gave this description of his extortion technique: "You hit them over the head with a baseball bat, and they come around." After a dispute with a disco owner, Sirico once warned, "I'm going to come back here and carve my initials in your forehead. You better learn a lesson, you better show me the respect I deserve." A Bellevue Hospital psychiatric report from that period concluded that Sirico suffered from a "character disorder."

1. eh
I'll take Christopher over Pauly Walnuts any day.

Michael Imperioli recently called for Bush to resign in a Newsday story I read.

So I'll take him over Tony's backstabbing goon anyday.

3. Sounds like just the kind of "heart and soul"
of America that Bush connects with.

4. Give Sirico Credit
He atleast is honest about himself. He calls himself a "Far-right Republican." He doesn't try and claim to be a typical American, or an "Average American", etc like the neocons try to do.

5. A real convicted murderer has endorsed Bush
Don King kicked a man to death over a drug deal. I think he also killed someone else in self defence.
