First, Bush was going to run on his war in Iraq - there were WMD, there were nukes, there were AQ ties, and Saddam was responsible for 9-11.
Second, Bush was going to run on a strong economy - 1.5 million new jobs, strong economic growth, low interest rates, falling unemployment claims, low taxes.
Third, Bush was going to run on conservative platforms, no gay marriage, little intrusion by our government into our lives, special rules for frequent flyers, low taxes, lower government spending.
Fourth, Bush was going to run as a strong patriot, a fighter against terrorists and terrorism.
1) No WMD. NO nukes. No AQ ties. Saddam was not responsible for 9-11 2) the economy fell last month. Jobless claims fell because people dropped out of the work force, and now, far fewer jobs were created than anticipated. Stagnant factory figures, plus poor confidence shows that the so-called strong economy is anything but. 3) The senate handed his conservative hat back to him on gay marriage. Even the most conservative GOPers could not stomach changing our constitution. The Patriot Act is being used for everything but anti-terrorism. CAPPS is gone, after 120 mill is wasted money. The federal deficit has never been larger. 4) Patriot my ass. Neocon policies, yes, american policies, no. Osama? Who cares where he is. WE are not searching for him, cause we won the battel against terrorists. Oh, by the way, the alert level is Yellow because Osama is plotting an attack to disrupt our elections. And, we are considering ways to delay that vote if WE think that terrorists may attack us.
So, what will #5 be? a new VP? a new war in North Korea or Iran? And why did 10 F117s land in South Korea this week? And why is the biggest naval sortie heading towards the China sea, largest since WWII, at this time? Could this be Karl Rove's surprise? Another little southeast vacation for Bush? he was AWOL for the last one, maybe he wants to make up for it.
