Drudge says Limbaugh beat AAR; AAR share going down |
|
Somebody posted this on xmfan.com. Thoughts?
MID-DAYS NYC: LIMBAUGH 4.8 SHARE SMASHES 'AIR AMERICA' 1.7 SHARE IN ALL LISTENERS <12+>...
'AIR AMERICA' FADES MONTH TO MONTH: 2.2 SHARE APRIL DEBUT, 1.7 SHARE IN MAY, 1.2 SHARE IN JUNE...

He's showing an average of 8 million visits a day.
For a website, that's pretty impressive.
Goes to show what slinging mud and tabloidism will do for you.

31. a question RE: website hits |
|
have you noticed that if you leave his page up on your browser, it automatically refreshes every minute or so? Do each of these refreshes count as a hit?? Does he get extra adverstising $$ for this??

32. Depends on your terminology. "Hits" vs. "Visits" |
|
But no, I don't leave his page up. So I haven't noticed this.

Visits are usually counted uniquely. So If I go to Drudge from the same computer 3 times a day, it will count as 3 visits. If it were unique visitors no matter how many times I clicked on Drudge ina given day, I would count as one visitor.
Hits are anytime someone clicks on any page in your website so one visit/visitor could have many hits.
Hits have long been discounted as a reliable measure of a website's popularity.

23. The claim (same source) is that they fell to pre-AAR levels. |
|
June supposedly came in at 1.2
I don't remember whether the previous (Hispanic) content was coming in at 1.1 or 1.2, but it hardly matters.
It looks pretty bad.

29. I think that's the second of the monthly "arbitrend" numbers |
|
And isn't final till this latest report.
However, it looks like neither drudge nor this website should be releasing these actual figures (at least fro some period of time).
There's no REAL was to know right now where things stand...
But 1.4 would be pretty unfortunate as well. It would have been fine if they hadn't decided to match themselves up agains Rush right away. If they were around for two years and THEN beat him heads-up it would be pretty impressive... but they had to go and make that the standard right out of the gate.

We can either analyze this as a negative or talk about the fact the repukes seem to have more time on their hands during the day to listen to puke limbaugh.. Maybe the repukes need to start working their jobs instead of wasting their companies time listening to the radio!

About the myth of Rushbo's super ratings...it's just like when the GOP foundations buy bulk orders of Coulter's ramblings to get her into the best seller list...it's a SHAM. They buy the ratings with money.
It's not a true indication of popularity. Rush is syndicated by a conglomerate that owns over 1000 stations in the country. Of which he is on 600. His numbers in individual cities are never high and it would be interesting for someone to do an actual city by city breakdown of his ratings.
Particularly once Air America starts getting more and more syndication.

|
July 14, 2004
When the Spring ratings begin to roll this Friday, don't look for results from New York, L.A., Chicago or any of the top 10 markets to be reported by your favorite trade publication. Two days before its contract with Infinity officially expires, Arbitron today added 39 new markets to its "Client Exclusive" list of markets whose ratings are embargoed from public release. In other words, if you're not an Arbitron client, you don't have access.
In blocking access to the ratings of more than 100 markets -- 43 of the top 50 -- Arbitron also said it has reminded ad agencies that "their license agreement with Arbitron is a contractual obligation that prohibits the unauthorized disclosure of all Arbitron estimates and data they receive." In other words, agencies (or anyone for that matter) can't share any ratings -- new or old, via any means -- with an employee of a non-subscribing station.

7. These numbers don't include internet listeners |
|
I live in New York but always listen to Air America on the computer because the quality of the broadcast is much better than the puny signal on radio. I would guess that many do the same, though it wouldn't show up in the ratings.

Yes it matters to US, that their message is being heard my large numbers of people.
But the station makes almost no advertising revenue based on internet listeners (you're getting the NY station, right? They have no way of advertising to SoCal etc.).

These are ratings that cover the entire broadcast day (believe they're average). You need the 1-3 time period when Rush and Franken are going head-to-head.

Unfortunately I am just too cheap to buy reports from Arbitron so we cannot get the breakdown for Al vs. Rush.
Also the new reports are supposed to be issued anyday for Spring.

Hello little freepers!
We'll be seeing you all in November... THEN we can discuss the "suicide watch".
Yes, I suspect AAR is going down the tubes. Poor business model and/or management plus too agressive attempts at growth. It's not a sign of where the electorate is.

The numbers were greater than anyone expected for it's first ratings trend report. Actually, I expected it to debut with about a 1.0 share. It's currently sitting at 1.2, after hitting in the threes in it's first trend report.
Remember, this is for the New York station (WLIB). And it's a three month old network. Considering that WABC has been doing it's talk format on a high-powered signal for twenty years should be taken into consideration.
AAR needs to work through its growing pains. They know that more than anyone. Considering they got over 1.0 in that market is pretty good.
