Ben Affleck turns down movie offer for Kerry.
This, according to the NY Daily News:

"A big reason Ben Affleck turned down the role of Texas basketball coach Don Haskins is that he wants to do a full-court press for Sen. John Kerry's presidential campaign.

A pal of the actor tells us he nixed the starring role in Walt Disney's "Glory Road," about the first coach to win an NCAA championship with five African-American starters in 1966, because the studio wanted to start production next month, three months before the election.

"His priority right now is John Kerry," an Affleck friend told us. "Ben's going to be very visible at the convention and afterward. He's been studying the issues and he's going to travel with Kerry."

Disney is reportedly now considering Josh Lucas."

Man, it's amazing how much people are committed to getting the chimp out of office. Ben's willing to let go of millions of dollars so he can do his bit to help Kerry.

Thanks to guys like him, we should be in good shape, come November.

16. I'd like him a lot better if he didn't make so many
movies that turned out to be puff pieces

17. but he's such a stud muffin
yummm. Would you rather he do the repuke (guns ablazin') kinda movies like Bruce Willis, the Gropinator, Sly Stallone ???

I'll forgive Ben's lapses like Gigli (sp?) 'cause he's such eye candy and a fine rags to riches Dem!

14. I'm sure there are worse people to fall in love with.
Ben Affleck is one cool dude and I'll never forget him standing on the stage with Al Gore in Miami in 2000!

4. So does that mean he's going to vote this year ??
From what I recall, he was a major whiner against Boosh in 2000, but then never bothered to register, or even vote.

Please correct me if I'm mistaken, thanks in advance !

7. Every bit counts. If he can get two non-voters to vote, I'm
prepared to forgive him for not voting. Inspite of his J-Lo fling, he still has a wholesome image (so my wife tells me) and he should be a great help.

:-)

15. "In spite of" his J Lo fling? Hell, that only bolsters his image as a
wholesome, red-blooded American male. I mean, who wouldn't want to have a fling with J Lo?

12. He wanted more than the 5 million bucks he was offered for the role.
He bailed out because they wouldn't cough up a big back-end payout (insert J-lo joke here).

The Kerry thing is great, don't get me wrong, but it was an afterthought.

13. I loved that Michael Moore put that scene with Ben and
Robert DeNiro in F9/11 because I think of that scene often over the last four years and now when I buy the DVD..I will have them forever.

And this ..turning down this movie for disney makes me really impressed!

20. well .... a guy like Ben Affleck turns down movie offers every day
seriously. Guys who are considered bankable, like him, turn down 99% of what is offered to them.

Pretty much everything is offered to them. First is Tom Cruise, of course, then Ben Affleck is probably third or fourth on the list.

I mean, it's good PR, but the reality is this.
