DNC Out In Force in Minneapolis MN Streets |
|
Just returned from a trip to Minneapolis where many many young people were working the streets for the DNC asking everyone who passed by "Would you like to get rid of George Bush?"
I stopped to talk to one young man and they are out en masse talking to voters and trying to gain support for Kerry/Edwards. They are also taking donations and registration for the DNC but mainly just out doing some good old fashioned "politicking".
I was impressed - they seemed to cover alot of the city and were very visible around the university campuses.
Made me proud to be a Democrat and have these fine young people on our side.

My daughter is working for this same effort, the DNC's Grassroots Campaign, only she's in Washington DC. It's supposedly in 31 cities.
Some kids go canvassing in the streets, like the ones you met, while others, like my daughter, go door to door.
She's met quite a few Rethugs who are fed up with B*$h and who sometimes even donate money. She gets into lots of interesting discussions with people of all political leanings. Of course she's also been told she has 30 seconds to get off someone's property.
If one of these DNC kids comes to your door, please try to give them even a $5 or $10 bill if you can spare it. They get paid a percentage of what they collect, and most of them have given up better-paying summer jobs that would have helped earn tuition.

which is not exactly friendly territory. But when you actually find a Democrat out there, it's like finding a diamond in the rough, which makes it all worth it.
