Bush issues today's fatwa: "sex tourism" in Cuba

Bush, in Florida, Assails Castro on Sex Tourism

TAMPA, Fla. (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites) accused Cuba's Fidel Castro (news - web sites) on Friday of welcoming sex tourism and contributing to a global problem of human trafficking, as he courted Cuban voters in Florida, a pivotal state in the election.

"The regime of Fidel Castro has turned Cuba into a major destination for sex tourism," Bush said, adding that the Cuban president "welcomes sex tourism" as a source of hard currency for his government.

Addressing a conference on human trafficking, Bush quoted Castro as saying that prostitutes in Havana were the cleanest and best educated in the world.

Bush said that comment was evidence that Havana was encouraging sex tourism. Castro praised Cuban prostitutes for having a college education in a documentary interview by the U.S. filmmaker Oliver Stone.

11. I imagine they're postponing the search...
...so they can campaign full time for daddy.

On a serious note, working on a presidential campaign by travelling with the pres and getting to speak at fundraisers, rallies, etc. probably would look good on a resume.

I doubt they'll have any problem getting jobs with their family connections.

9. Beat me to it! Damn
Wouldn't it be great if some of our "librul media" had the guts to ask this question:

Mr Pres, I agree that "sex tourism" is disgusting, what have you done in places like Bangkok where your brother Neil "hookers just showed up in my hotel" Bush, had some trouble? Or is this only a problem because the Cubans tend to vote for you, but the Thai's don't?

Yes, it is such a major problem. Just yesterday I was talking to my wife about how horrible it was how all the Americans were going to Cuba for sex. (sarcasm off)

13. No joke!
Is he going to restrict travel to Nevada, too, like he did with Cuba?

BTW, the AOL straw poll shows Nevada as being comfortably in the Kerry camp, 58 percent to Bush's 40.

16. I like the sound of that, but I don't think AOL polls are accurate
according to http://www.electoral-vote.com the latest poll from Nevada has Bush ahead by 2%, certainly within the margin of error

7. I hate to break up Chimpboy's little lovefest with his social
conscience, but Cuba under Batista was a hellhole for such folks as prostitutes, and Cuba was a rich boy's nasty little playground. When Castro came in, all that stuff was cleaned up.

By the way, Chimpboy, if your conscience is in overdrive at the moment, do something for the 8-year-old prostitutes who live in some of your big buddies' countries, like Indonesia and Thailand.

18. Then Castro is a libertarian! A legalized and regulated sex industry
Edited on Fri Jul-16-04 02:22 PM by bigbillhaywood
is what the Libertarian Party has been advocating for years. They will be very disappointed to hear a Communist beat them to it.

What a crazy idea-- decriminalizing a victimless crime that will occur in any case; and regulating it, thus protecting the sex workers from STDs, drug addiction, pimps and other violent extortionists. Although Cuba officially denies it, this is essentially what has been done.

21. Sex Tourist Neil "Silverado" Bush +n his Red Chinese buddies
Another mug in the BushCo crusade for "family values."

From cnn.com transcripts
http://cnnstudentnews.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0311/25/acd.00.html

Houston, Texas: a brother's actions. The Reuters News Agency says President Bush's brother Neil admitted to sexual escapades and deals with a politically connected Chinese company in a deposition last March made in connection with his recent divorce.

Reuters says Neil Bush admitted having extramarital sex with several women during trips to Thailand and Hong Kong and talked about a $2 million business deal with a firm backed by a son of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin.

22. What About Our Ally Thailand - One Of Our Coalition Of The Shilling?
According to Colin Powell's Human Country Rights Reports, the last one which he delivered to the U.S. Congress in Feburary, 2004, our good friend Thailand is no slouch when it comes to sex tourism. It fact, a great portion of Thailand's economy depends on sex tourism:

http://www.state.gov/g/drl/rls/hrrpt/2003/27790.htm

And conditions in the countries of our so-called good friends like Uzbekistan, where we are building airfields, also involve extensive trafficking of women and children for sex and labor, while the government looks the other way:

f. Trafficking in Persons

The law prohibits trafficking in persons; however, trafficking in persons was a serious problem. The country was a source, transit, and destination for trafficking in women and children for a variety of purposes, including indentured servitude, forced labor, and prostitution (see Section 5). Some local officials, immigration officers, and police reportedly either were involved in trafficking directly or took bribes to ignore it. ...

Government and NGO estimates of the number of women and children engaged in prostitution in the country varied widely. Many NGOs and government departments reported a figure of 200,000 persons, which was considered a conservative estimate. This figure included children under the age of 18 years, but not foreign children whom the U.N. and NGOs believe make up an increasingly large proportion of trafficking victims. The number of victims of trafficking not involved in prostitution and including men, women, and children was unknown but believed to be substantial.

According to domestic NGOs, girls between the ages of 12 and 18 years continued to be trafficked from Burma, southern PRC, and Laos to work in the commercial sex industry. Social workers noted that young girls were prized because their clients believe that they were free of sexually transmitted diseases. Persons trafficked from the PRC often were in transit to other countries, although women and girls from Yunnan Province generally were destined for brothels in the north. Generally victims from Yunnan Province were lured into the country with promises of restaurant or household work and then were pressured or physically forced into prostitution...
