Meme - Republican Surrogates are Mindless Drones |
|
After reading the thread about Jon Stewart outing the Republicans and the media for repeating the same exact talking points ad nauseam (about Kerry/Edwards being "liberal" and "out of the mainstream") - and the general obvious effectiveness they have in doing so, I think it's about time Democratic surrogates fought back. Effectively.
Of course both sides use talking points - but the Republican machine is far more vast and networked than the rapidly growing, but still outfinanced Democratic "machine".
So, here's a talking point (one which we've all thought before, but we should start to say loudly).
"You guys are like a bunch of Mindless Drones"
We all know it's true. They don't think for themselves - they just take orders. It's like they are a bunch of worker bees buzzing around for no actual purpose other than trying to please the Queen. The Queen Bee of course being Karl Rove.
Encourage them to think for themselves. Branch out. Stop repeating things you don't necessarily believe in. That's one of the greatest assets of the Democratic Party - we don't encourage "group think", rather we encourage thinking for ourselves. We actually value new ideas - and cutting our losses rather than sticking to an idea until it fails so miserably it takes 20 years to recover from it. These are the sort of things that happen when you blindly follow an ideology - and refuse to see the rest of the world from the beehive.
As for the media - and Matt Drudge, when I looked in the dictionary for "drone", I found this:
A person who does tedious or menial work; a drudge: “undervalued drones who labored in obscurity” (Caroline Bates).<\strong><\em>

1. I especially like "a drudge". Sweet, sweet irony. |

2. Bill Frist comes to mind. Sen. George Allen, Kay Bailey Hutchinson, |
|
Liddy Dole, J.C. Watts, and Rep. Dana Rohrbacher are exceptional drones.
Rep. David Drier is a good mind gone to waste.

6. They have to be given a script to read |
|
because if they are allowed to "think" for themselves they come up with ideas like humping box turtles.

I thought I was the first to come up with that idea. Dammit. Now I have to scrap the humping box turtles strategy and come up with a whole new way of living. Great.

9. "Stop repeating things you don't necessarily believe in" |
|
That's the main problem. Repetition is what makes them believe this shit to begin with. It's the George Costanza defense. "Remember, it's not a lie if you youself believe it."

11. And this includes the press, when they buy into the talking points... |
|
and make them stories, or parts of stories. Michael Moore ratted out the press bigtime; I wish a way could be found for his "meme" re. the press to take hold in the public mind.
