9. My Kindergarten Teacher Told Me That Left-Handed Meant

That I was influenced by the devil, and she taught me to write with my right hand. Now I have shitty handwriting with both hands (don't know if I can really blame her for that, but let's just say).

I do everything else left-handed, but I typically write with my right hand just because that's how I learned it.

to discourage left-handed writing. Some had their hands rapped very hard with a ruler to "discourage" this lefty behaviour.

It was probably around 1984 or so, in a public school. No ruler attacks.

But it led to problems later on, because my file said I was left-handed and my second grade teacher got mad that I was writing with my right hand. My handwriting is abysmal and she thought I was writing with my off-hand to be an ass -- which wouldn't be unlike me, quite frankly.

Damn teachers couldn't make up their mind. So she ended up sending me to the principal's office because when she started giving me shit about writing with my right hand I refused to write any more. I think between my kindergarten and second grade teachers, they taught me pretty well to question authority.
