Bush is distorting a remark Kerry made at Radio City Music Hall .
At Radio City Music Hall in New York a week ago Thursday, Kerry thanked the perfomers (John Cougar Mellencap, John Fogerty, Meryl Streep, Whoopi Goldberg, Paul Newman, and more) by saying they "conveyed the heart and soul of America."

But Bush is telling midwestern campaign audiences that Kerry said Hollywood performers WERE the heart and soul of America.

"I thnk the heart and soul of America is in places like Marquette, Michigan," Bush adds.

2. Keep bashing, Mr. Shrub....
Edited on Sat Jul-17-04 12:06 AM by charlyvi
You are beginning to reveal the small spirited, vindictive, petty man we always knew you were. Presidents aren't suppose to engage in candidate bashing--their surrogates are supposed to do it. Keep playing to that Base, shrub, and drive all those swing voters and moderates away. Hee Haw!!!

Edited for spelling.

6. rotfl
I gotta' remember that one. My Pub family is coming in two months, I'm thinking making jokes about the shrub might be more effective than going after the lies. This one is priceless.

8. Yeah, Jon Stewart (Daily Show) roasted him pretty good on this,
replayed the "MI" in slo-mo. The video clip should still be up at the Comedy Central site.

10. Yeah, you know when he got in that bus he was a cussing and a ranting
GWB: "Don't ever give me abbreviations again! WTF do you think you are doing -- MI is that cheneying Mississippi, Missouri, Michigan - why the cheney is MI Michigan - that should be MN. WTF -- NO MORE ABBREVIATIONS."

Aide: Mr. President, let's go talk to the Amish, they are very religious.

4. Bush has already lost the strong support...
...of several people that I know. They now admit that they made a mistake in their support of him (vote and financial) in 2000, and now say they will be voting and supporting Kerry/Edwards.

Keep talking Bush, your "all negative-all the time" is getting REALLY old...

7. Nicholas Kristof of The New York Times op=ed section says that we...
...must not call Bush a "liar" or else we'll alienate swing-voters.

But David Corn of "The Nation" says that Bush's credibility is crumbling, and people don't want to vote for someone they don't trust, so it's both useful and accurate to call Bush a "liar."

11. He is now distorting...
After the conventions, he will do much worse.

When he is behind, & he will be behind in Sept., you watch them go into action. When they are desperate, they will stop at nothing.

I hope Kerry is prepared. And Bush fingerprints will be on none of it...will be done underground, by his cronies.

12. another distortion in his current campaign speech is about the $87 billion
Edited on Sat Jul-17-04 09:31 PM by Eric J in MN
Bush is saying that Kerry sent troops to Iraq but was against supporting the troops because he voted against a version of the $87 billion bill.

Bush leaves out that he threatened to veto a version of the $87 billion which made part of it a loan.

Bush and Kerry both wanted the troops funded, and both supported some versions of the $87 bilion appropriation and not others, but Bush leaves that out.

Bush implies that anyone who voted against a particular version of that bill is against supporting the troops.
