My local news paper makes me sick...

I opened my local newspaper to find the following within the "Around Town" section:

"Medical science needs to come-up with a shot to make Americans immune to political clap-trap. If things get any worse on TV, I may be found sucking my thumb and watching the cartoon channel. John Edwards told a crowd the other day about how tough it is to make ends meet. How would he know? He's a multi-millionaire. And if he and John Kerry keep hugging each other, it's going to be pretty obvious whose votes they're after."

I found that totally offensive and inappropriate. So I wrote the following letter to the editor (the person who wrote it).

Editor, Doug Coleburn:

I found your comments in "Around Town", where you talked about John Edwards and John Kerry hugging, and implying that they were gay highly offensive and inappropriate.

It is truly ironic that on Page 4, the same week, you talk about the policies you have in effect. I think it might be a good time to review those policies and how you conduct yourself. Such bigoted remarks are what I expect from right wing talk radio, not my local news paper which should strive to be fair.

In addition to your remarks being highly offensive they were also misleading. John Edwards worked in a mill along with his father. He saw that mill shut down. He went on to become a successful trial lawyer defending workers rights against big corporations. John Edwards has at least experienced to some degree what it is like to live in the Middle Class, whereas George Bush spent the first 40 years of his life snorting crack and drinking up his Daddies money while running several companies into the ground -- not unlike what he is doing to the country now.

Perhaps in the future you'll strive to be a bit more balanced and fair in your assessments, and keep your personal bigotry to a minimal amount.

Just to be clear, that's saying they are after the gay vote, not gay themselves.

Actually, I think they are more after the women vote and are just trying to show how friendly the two are.

When I read it I was reminded of the Matt Drudge Report. Either way the comment was offensive and wrong and was trying to stir up anti-gay sentiment.

4. it's almost total....

the entire media seems biased like this (during recent canadian election, mainstream network top newsman craig oliver said 'we' aren't doing as well as expected after it became clear the neocon's were getting turned away.....recently when a local hack commentator wanted to use as example of something involving relatives, it's jimmy carter's brother billy (and the hack's only in early 30's which is also the target audience, so wtf?)
The news media is totally corrupted, we can fill the prisons just with traitorous 'news' mediawhores...)
