Neocon Republicans and Family Values

They espouse family values, marriage ammendments, display of ten
commandments on the public square, while they give corporate tax
breaks, deregulate electricity, promote monopolies, privatize social
security, send Oklahoma jobs overseas, and concentrate wealth at the top.
They deny 44 million Americans access to affordable healthcare, sell our senior
citizens out to the big drug companies, and cut federal funding to schools
unless they release our childrens' names to military recruiters under the
No Child Left Behind Act.

Oklahoma values don't include torture, wars for profit, imprisonment without due process, shifting of tax burden from the fat cats to the middle class, and sending jobs overseas.
Republicans manipulate the voter with talk of family values and religion, but once in office, corporate profit is what drives their actions and their legislative agenda.

1. Welcome to DU!
Your observation of these hypocritical jackanapeses is right on the money, pardon the pun.

The sad part is how many Americans don't bother TO observe. Somehow, "American Idol" is more important to them.

They are hypocrites and traitors to the infrastrcture of this country.

2. NeoCons don't really care
much about family values as such - a great many of them aren't even Christians. Their agenda is Empire for the extremists, mainteneance of the US hegemon for the less fanatical. The family values rhetoric is a sop to the Christian Right, which keeps their coalition alive. They don't really care much about gun regulation either, except insofar as federal regs infringe on states' own ability to regulate or not, which is also true for traditional Conservatives, who are definitely NOT NeoCons. There are a great many different kinds of conservatives, and they've learned to function as a bloc despite some fundamental disagreements that you'd think would be dealbreakers. Old-school Goldwater types and Fundamentalist Christian Right-wingers, for example, should be at each others' throats, but they know how to throw each other a bone here and there. Appearing unified is the cost of getting at least SOME of the things they want. Are you paying attention, DNC & DLC?
