Falwell Accused of Breaking Tax Rule

RICHMOND, Va. - A religious watchdog group claims the Rev. Jerry Falwell has violated his church's tax-exempt status by endorsing President Bush (news - web sites) and urging followers to donate to a conservative political action campaign.

The Americans United for Separation of Church and State filed a complaint Thursday with the Internal Revenue Service (news - web sites) seeking an investigation.

2. It's about bloody time.
Falwell has been tacitly supporting Republicans for years, doing all kinds of things which normally should have caused his ministry to lose its tax-exempt status years ago.
