"In my considered opinion, the likelihood, the chance, of a draft being reinstated are a million to one. It's zero. It's not going to happen," Greenwood said.

Currently, the SSS is planning a possible draft of physicians and other medical personnel, computer professionals and (Arabic) linguists, ages 20 to 44.

Under the recently enacted Selected Service Annual Performance Plan for 2004, prior to March 31, 2005 draft boards are required to become "potentially" operational within 10 weeks of "a return to conscription," as well as conduct tests for the draft lottery, the examination system, and the process for classification, placement, and monitoring of conscientious objectors.

We so desperately need doctors here, and they are being drafted to support this farce. Not that I begrudge the soldiers medical care, it's just that the whole pointless meatgrinder needs to stop.
