If our troops are already stretched thin in Iraq,
isn't it going to be a tad difficult to dominate the entire Middle East for their oil, which is clearly the goal of PNAC?

I think they've set a chain of events in motion that (a) they can't back down from and (b) will not be able to maintain anywhere near indefinitely, which is what they will HAVE to do to protect that precious oil...

Just an observation, feel free to spank me.

1. That's what everybody told the idiots.
However, it IS possible if, say, we are willing to murder over forty million people.

Actually, it won't work then either because that would give other major powers, like China, or India, or the EU, an excuse to mobilize as the hero-rescuers and take all our ill-gotten gains from us.

In the meantime, all our trading alliances would be demolished and South America would likely be able to shake free of us, since we would be totally occupied elsewhere.

Yes, the PNAC plan was truly a work of genius. If the genius was an enemy spy whose mission was to weaken our superpower status so hugely we would never recover.

2. Yeah, Iraq smells like Afghanistan, don't it?
The Soviet Afghanistan, I mean. It exposes our limits. I keep hearing commentators saying the same thing: "Iraqis are convinced that the U.S. can accomplish anything if it really wants to, and so the continued lack of infrastructure leaves them very angry".

I've got to think alot of people take a slightly different lesson from the occupation of Iraq: the U.S. CAN'T accomplish anything it wants.

3. The US has the military capability to blow the world to smithereens
many times over

You're assuming these assholes in power won't use WMD's.

6. That is the dilemma that the assholes face.
Since they have weakened, if not ruined, our reputation in the international community and since our military is stretched too thin, in order to achieve their goals to control all the oil and the world domination they covet, they must resort to WMDs. If they resort to WMDs then they will destroy what they want to acquire. It is the parasite destroying the host.

The reason the cold war went on for so long is because no one wanted to be the first to start a nuclear war. These assholes may think that first is best, but the other nations will probably do what they can to make their first shot their last. (imho)

4. This is the inquiry I posted in the Plame threads...
It is a legitimage question. If we are a weakened nation and lose our position as a super power and/or have all other super powers distrust us, their "plans" to take over the Middle East and all oil resources will not be able to be realized.

That is why we must not let * win the election. If he wins, there is not doubt that he will institute the draft and will build up the military for purposes of making us a military super power. However,I am not sure he could restore our internationaal reputation and all of the other super powers will be arming themselves to stop our efforts for world domination. The strength of the dollar will plummet and the Euro will be the currency of choice, as no one, no one, will trust us and/or what to support us. (imho)

7. Just in from Devil's Advocate, Alabama....
What if fresh U. S. troops were being held back from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq so that they can be available when the NeoCons get ready to invade Iran?

That would certainly explain why the troops in Iraq are spread too thin...because the NeoCons badly underestimated to willingness of the Iraqi people to resist the occupation.

Additionally, have you noticed the almost desparate nature of FratBoy's request for troops from NATO, and now Russia? Doesn't that also indicate that the NeoCons are getting set to jump Iran real soon?

And how about those seven carrier battlegroups that sailed off the coast of China for "maneuvers"...how difficult will it be to have those same carrier battlegroups show up off the coast of Iran on their way back to the States?

Now signing off from Devil's Advocate, Alabama.

8. Interesting speculation, MLD.
I would say at this point, it's fair to say that the Neo-Cons and their ridiculous plans of ruling the world (via the PNAC) are fools. I've read a lot of their manifesto, and you can really see a lot of unrealistic expectations, over-confidence, and immaturity.

Most of all, you see a dangerous lack of understanding of humanity. I got the feeling that they were describing colonies of ants, rather than people, living on top of their precious oil.

Just pull out a can of raid, and start spraying. It just blew me away, because these guys have been around a long time. PNAC has been in the works for about 20 years. Just an incredible arrogance.

Now, you've aroused my curiosity. Where are the troops right now? I believe we have a total of 1.2 million active military. I believe we have 130,000 right now in Iraq. Where are the rest of them, and do they have enough to start attacking Iran?

<*on a side note, my girlfriend told me her stepdad got called up to go to Iraq. He's a retired Guardsman. He's overweight and has a big beer belly. He's going to be absolutely worthless in Iraq. I guess they really are desperate>
