RNC Spin on NAACP fiasco
I'm listening to NPR this morning; two talking heads are on--one from RNC, one from Dems. The spin regarding shrub's refusal to talk at NAACP goes like this:

It's the NAACP's fault. They are a radical, left wing organization and bush* was right not to go.

When did the NAACP get to be a left wing, radical organization? Was I sleeping or what? Of course, we knew this would never be bush*s fault. I guess God told him not to go.

1. they are an
independent group that still has some thinkers among them.
Any organization that has independent thinkers among them are obviously subversive and are to be dismissed as liberal, radicals, etc.

Kool aid anyone:evilfrown:

2. In hindsight, they see this as a political mistake....
With their own supporters. Why was he afraid to speak in front of a "non-friendly" crowd? Well, they are a radical, left-wing organization, OK?

5. Oh yeah, Bush's base
They are the ones with the pointy white hoods, aren't they? I figured they were the real reason he didn't attend.

8. Bush has NEVER spoken in front of a non-friendly crowd.
They are afraid - and rightly so - that he would end up looking like an idiot.

3. Using God as an excuse would be better
anyone in the African American community knows how 'radical' and 'left wing' the NAACP is. I'm surprised that the entire black community isn't laughing their heads off right now.

But that this was on NPR doesn't surprise me...they have been sold out to corporate interestes. The other day on NPR I heard a guy saying that a majority of blacks would vote Bush because he's a Godly man and their ministers would tell them to vote Republican.

Sure. And I bet he has a bridge to sell in Brooklyn really cheap as well.....

7. Yeah, I've heard that the NAACP
is considered relatively non-fiery among African Americans. It's one of the oldest organizations they have, isn't it? I don't think anyone is buying this spin; the Dem nailed him on being a divider, not a uniter. It also made him look like a small spirited coward. After all, he's supposed to be EVERYONE's president, not just the RW fringers.

I heard them say that Bush would be attacked if he went by the NAACP
and that he is being attacked by not going so he couldn't win either way. Well I think he would have been attacked for going because it would have been a hypocritical thing to do.

I'm glad he didn't go because it means less net votes for him. Some on the right will be pleased he didn't go but more on the left will be pissed he didn't go however disingenuous it would have been.

6. "God" Told Bush Not To Talk
To anyone beneath his stature.

I suppose that includes anyone with a Kerry t-shirt or protest sign that he may possibly notice.

9. Then why did Bu$h speak to them
when he was running for president in 2000?

If they are a radical left wing organization in 2004, weren't they one in 2000?

11. Maybe not
Many of us have been turned into radical left-wingers because of Bush*co's governance. This is just their way, though, of deflecting blame from One Who Can Do No Wrong.

10. Some of the most conservative people I've ever met were African American.
Both economically and religiously. But they still would never vote for a Republican, simply because today's Republican Party isn't interested in maintaining civil rights - it wants them eliminated.

Blacks know what its like to be treated as second class citizens, and most wouldn't wish that position on anybody.
