Chris Matthews: CRITIZICING DEMS (more than Repugs) for being |
|
rich. I KNOW that Bush has more than 22 million. How does he manage to hide it? He came out to be the poorest of the 4 (Kerry Heinz, Cheney, Edwards, Bush)

We are only supposed to be the down trodden and work only for the poor and underprivilaged.
The greatest rebuf to this is FDR. The most social liberal president was quite wealthy and he was elected to office 4 times.

3. The repukkkes simply can't fathom ... |

how any rich person could still have a conscience and desire to help the poor and implement decent social programs. In some warped way, they claim this is hypocrisy. I suppose it would be better if rich Dems would fall in line with the "fuck-the-poor-let's-start-another-war" mentality.

6. Exactly -- nothing is more unattractive than the rich... |
|
dedicating their lives to further enriching themselves, and their fellows, instead of giving something back, and helping those less fortunate. Today's Republicans cannot "fathom," to use your word, this concept. Michael Moore addresses it in "Dude," in the chapter about talking to Republicans about possibly voting Democratic -- forget anything that's not about what's "in it" for them.

7. Earth To Tweety...Not Every One With Money Likes Being A Pig |
|
There are some...a minority, unfortunatly...of well-off people who aren't overwhelmed with the game of impress and be impressed that he plays and that wealth and being a Repugnican must designate. Somewhere I didn't get the memo.
I've been on both sides of the fence...working my ass off for 20 yeasr to earn some comfort in life but not to the point of ever compromising standards or values for the almighty buck. It mean having less "creature comforts" so we could raise our children and make a business grow and then to remember where we came from and never forget.
So many of the rich in the Repugnican party are inherited...they've never had to work for their money and no matter how bad they've squandered it (like Bunnypants) they still have it. These people have a superiority/inferiority complex that is based upon their status and material goods...the best car, house, clothing. Somehow these people assume since this is what they want, we all want it.
What really burns these people is a self-made person like Edwards...someone who wasn't worthy of "the club" and hasn't gotten his money like they got theirs and isn't doing with his what they do with theirs. It's like a kid's game...but one that leads to the exploitation of those who aren't as lucky/fortunate.
FDR & RFK are great examples of very wealthy people who put their character and the best interests of people on the whole to their own creature comforts. This is something beyond the simple, arrogant and self-centered worlds of the Matthews and his ilk.
